Caffè della Basilica — Restaurant in Galatina

This was literally one of the only places open around 1:30pm to grab a bite to eat. Although there was no choice on the menu (take whatever friselle remains!), the food was of an excellent quality, hit the spot, was abundant and at a good price. I see why some others would say tourist trap, but Galatina was not crazy busy and there really wasn't anywhere else to eat in the old city, unless you wanted a fancier restaurant. The setting was nice, with a view of the basilica, and the owners were nice, even encouraging us to stick around for a second pasticciotto as they were delivered fresh (and still warm) by car after we lingered for an hour or so. Una meraviglia da provare, della quel fare esperienza. L'arte del pasticciotto di Galatina, nella sua espressione migliore e nel pieno rispetto della ricetta tradizionale, che qui viene conservata e perpetuata. In questo bar-pasticceria dovete fermarvi e gustare le specialità (caffè ghiacciato al latte di mandorla, il pasticciotto alla crema, le granite di vera frutta del territorio (fichi, fichi d'india, anguria...). La gradevolezza dei prodotti è accompagnata da quella dei proprietari, dai modi gentili e riservati, troppo spesso qualità sottovalutate. Bella la decorazione dello spazio degustazione all'aperto, tutta opera della proprietaria. Prezzi nella media, ma nulla paga come la qualità e la posizione invidiabile di fronte alla basilica di Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, vero gioiello dell'arte...

Allerübelste Abzocke durch den Chef persönlich!! Die Augenzeugen sind seine Familie. Möchte Zeche gleich doppelt bezahlt haben! 2 Cappuccino + 2 divini amori mit Selbstbedienung machten 9 Euro. Hier gibt es nämlich keinen Kassenbon (Ricevuta), wenn man bereits drinnen bezahlt hat. Habe Bestellung in der Bar selber aufgegeben und sofort cash bezahlt. Entweder ist das eine Masche von ihm oder er hat ein Gedächtnis wie ein Sieb. Verständigung nur auf italienisch möglich. Nachdem er gemerkt hatte, dass ich so richtig verärgert war, hat er eingelenkt. Hat mich dann aber mit 2 zusätzlichen kleinen 0,5 l Wasserflaschen zu je 3,50 €, die ich im Nachhinein haben wollte, letztendlich doch noch reingelegt!!
