It's unfortunate that I have to leave a bad note because of one individual, but I have to explain my extremely unpleasant experience. We had no reservation and took our chances. Fortunately, the hostess confirmed that there was still a seat available and that we were in luck. The first waiter comes to greet us, but as he doesn't speak English, he transfers the table to another waitress - a charming blonde lady like no other! So far so good, we order (cacio & pepe for me and meat for my partner) and wait in anticipation of discovering the dishes offered by this restaurant. Eventually the food arrives and it's all amazingly good. However, out of the corner of my eye I notice an older waiter (white hair - grumpy look) who doesn't look happy. He starts by lecturing the hostess who gave us a table. At this point, I don't have the impression that we're the cause. Time passes and he ends up complaining to our friendly waitress, clearly pointing in our direction. I can't hear what he's saying, but I can tell from his body language that our presence is not wanted. The pressure is on us to clear the table as soon as possible, even though we'd like to have a dessert and a quiet chat.
Now, I don't know if this individual is the owner, but if he is, he should do a little soul-searching. If it's an employee, I hope the owner will read my review.
Take note that I'm not a picky person and I treat restaurant employees with respect, I'm more the type to feel bad if I ask too much of a waiter...
Read moreI had the pleasure of eating in this Roman osteria in Gallipoli and it was the best choice I could have made. I have lived in Rome for many years and so I wanted to taste some traditional dishes and I have to say that this restaurant is better than many historical osterias in Rome! I ordered a mixed appetizer of the house which was abundant and with perfectly cooked products. But the carbonara was truly amazing, one of the best ever tasted! I was very full so I didn't order a second course, but of course I couldn't not taste a dessert. Tiramisu is amazing! I will definitely come back to try other dishes but especially for the hospitality of the owners who make you feel at home. If you pass by Gallipoli, you cannot fail to come here to eat...
Read moreHad a fabulous meal here - pumpkin flower and mozzarella starter, it was supposed to have anchovies but if it did it was a really light you h as I did not taste anchovy - battered and fried, still delicious but I feel a lighter batter and less oiliness would raise it to the next level! The carbonara was delicious! I was so full but had read amazing reviews about the tiramisu so I went there… and unfortunately it was the low light for me - I got no coffee flavour off of it and did not finish it, the “cream” was more like a slightly grainy custard. The service was the best I have experienced in Italy … overall I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good pasta dinner which is really what I was after, and it was a very welcoming...
