I visited this restaurant together with my partner. Before we were seated, we spoke to the manager at the cash register and it was pretty clear, that we communicated in English. She assigned us a waiter, who spoke no English at all, while others did. As much as the guy was charming, I could not find out what fish were in the today’s catch fried fish platter. I decided to risk it and ordered. It turned out that the fish was definitely not a today’s catch, as the calamari tasted old - bitter and rather unpleasant. I asked one of the waiters to attend our table for a moment to ask if that’s how it’s supposed to be served, but he ignored me looking straight into my face (couple of times). Finally a nice, Italian speaking waiter attended and called in the manager who explained in English that the fish is what it is and it should not be battered, nor crunchy, it’s just barely fried. Unfortunately the staff made me feel as if I was the problem, not the fact that I didn’t like the service, nor the food. Besides the main dish, the croquettes ordered as appetizers were warm only on the outside and stone cold inside. We ate it as we were hungry and decided to finish regardless. The tomato orecchietti were just plain, as if somebody took pasta, and poured tomatoes over it. I left the restaurant deeply dissatisfied both with the service and the food, which in my opinion is far worse than other we...

I usually give tourist places the benefit of the doubt, but Garibaldine deserves less than a star. The experience was awful. The service, in particular, was terrible. The waiters were loudly chatting and commenting on every order. We asked for a classic pittule (a typical southern Italian dish) but discovered the waiter wrote down meatballs instead. When we asked the owner to change the plate, the waiter loudly insisted from the other end of the room that we had ordered meatballs. We were utterly humiliated in front of all the other guests. The replacement plate was incorrect as well, but we ate it anyway, just hoping to leave soon. At the end, the waiter who made the wrong order told us we were wrong, but that customers are always right, in a bizarre attempt to excuse himself. Completely rude and unprofessional. The food was overpriced and not even properly cooked, classic pittule (4 units) was 10€, carpaccio was 15€, and seafood orecchiette was 19€, and every bite was bland. The cost for adults is definitely over 40€. This place is an overpriced ripoff, a tourist trap. Avoid it...

The highlight of our trip in Puglia so far! Hidden down a cool side street with really friendly owners, the focus is on local specialities. We had fried anchovies (perfectly lightly fried), pomodori schiattarisciati (exceptional - tomatoes at a whole new level of taste), swordfish in breadcrumbs (best cooled piece of fish I’ve ever had - lovely and moist with beautifully seasoned crust) and orrechiette with tomatoes and burrata (just divine). Not very often I go to the lengths of translating a compliment on the food and chef! (il cibo era fenomenale, grazie. complimenti allo chef!). We’re aiming to return in a couple of days!

After a day of hustle and bustle we asked some shop owners for a recommendation and this was one of his suggestions. We were early so it was smart to reserve. We were seated in the private outdoor open air terrace and that was a real treat. A real break from all the noise and hustle and bustle outside. Then the food came!!! The bruschetta was on point as was the puréed fava beans “ianche e cichuerede” The orecchiette were the best I’ve tasted since arriving in this wonderful area of Puglia. The house rosé was very good indeed (sweet not dry) My wife had the fried octopus and she enjoyed it as well.
