Caffetteria degli Orefici — Restaurant in Genoa

This is an exquisite coffee place. Proper cappuccinos and good espresso. The prices are super low here. We also liked brioche with pistachio filling. They are simply great. I recommend them.

Now let’s talk about potential improvements:

1. Proper signs for where the queue starts (it felt very chaotic)

2. Sign-direction for the toilet would help as well. I would also like a toilet to have a locker inside. Otherwise, it feels a bit uncomfortable. Cleanliness of the toilet to be upgraded as well. People say you can judge any establishment by the toilet they have.

3. Now one more very chaotic thing: in the morning we had to order, wait & pay near the counter. In the afternoon, we were told that a waiter will come and take the order. But payment is still near the counter. So this part is very confusing to me.

4. Last but not the least: caprese was good (tasty cheese, fresh tomatoes) But the penne with salmon I ordered was a fail. I found a hair in it (a white curly hair that I definitely don’t have) And the salmon itself was quite smelly (so far from being fresh). Pasta itself was good and cooked properly (al dente).

That said, I strongly recommend this place if you would like to get some nice coffee with a desert. But I cannot recommend this place for proper food until things are fixed according to the notes...

We had 2 ‘specialty’ coffees at the bar, way too sweet. Unfriendly staff with people pushing into us constantly. We were also overcharged from the amount displayed on the board. In fact the staff member entering our drinks into the register kept changing the coffees we ordered to get a higher total and at the time we couldn’t figure what...

We came here for the specialty coffees. Again we were charged different prices to the Locals & what was displayed on the board. We drank the coffees at the banco so we should have been charged as per the board. Very expensive for 2xcoffees & cream and a brioche. ...
