Carlo Felice Theater — Attraction in Genoa

Opera season opening night. I won't lie, could have not been worse for us. The theater was nice as always, staff is spot on and the buffet is surprisingly reasonably priced... The evening was ghastly though. Opening night, sure, but it certainly wasn't necessary (and it was a bit pathetic) to have the Mayor and the Region's President give a speech. Please get on with the show. Or, DON'T!! I would have never thought I'd walk out on an Opera... Midsummer Night's Dream, stuff out of my worst nightmares. Choppy and gloomy music clashing with the effervescent and comical essence of the source play; Oberon was either a bad choice of male soprano or just forced to sing in falsetto; Lysander and Helena seemed more fit for Musical Theatre, and Oberon, basically the engine of the story, didn't have any proper singing line, and he talked in the most undecipherable accent. Tytania was nearing excellence, the costumes were really good, and the scenes, consisting of moving trees and mood setting green screen backgrounds, spoke of big production. Terrible organization by the administration of Carlo Felice, they hire aggressive/bad singers like Franco Rios Castro that attacks the public with no reason, i wanted to see this Tosca's season, like i always do and i saw this terrible and aggressive singer on their list, he sings so terribly too, so many good singers and they hire an unprofessional one.  A shame for the theater because i like this Opera House and have enjoyed all their Opera Seasons in the last years, but they need to be careful with whom they hire for the safety and enjoyment of the audience.  It is not nice when a troubled/stressed singer sends to hell to the...

The Teatro Carlo Felice is the principal opera house of Genoa, Italy, used for performances of opera, ballet, orchestral music, and recitals. It is located on the Piazza De Ferrari.

The hall is named for Duke Carlo Felice, and dates from 24 December 1824, when the Most Excellent Department of Theatres was established.
