Reservations are required even for lunch! Thanks to a very gracious kitchen staff who agreed to do one more round for us after we occupied a recently vacated table at about 13:45 (closes by 14:30), we were able to enjoy a delicious lunch outside. Extraordinarily small restaurant: maybe 8 tables outside under large umbrellas and less than that inside. Setting is rather unlovely (view of a busy road and a busy viaduct over that - can't see the water in the narrow port here). Service however is remarkably good, knowledgeable and friendly (what lovely people!!!), and the FOOD!!! :D Inventive, modern, fresh, expertly executed, high quality. Everything we ordered was impressive and memorable, including the desserts (on a whim). The Cloud was amazing, and my cheesy, salty and sweet Sweet Country was also very good. English menu available - we had the chickpea & anchovy fritters, the marvellous mullet, the Take Me to the Sea black spaghetti, the Acciupasta, and we both ordered the Cod Butter with fried artichokes and lentils for the 2nd course... it was all PERFECT. We will most certainly return, for lunch or dinner, and will be certain to make reservations to do so! Wonderful! Even the wine selection was interesting and varied... wish I lived here in Genoa if just to have easy access to dell'Acciughetta....
Read moreThe idea of revamping via Pre’ is commendable. But in the end the result is halfway there. I knew about the place thanks to a friends’ recommendation who also joined me and my family. The restaurant is pretentious: quality is fine, somewhere nice ideas but prices are absolutely not in line with what a trattoria is and with what they serve. This would be still okay if my experience would have not been ruined by the lady at the counter (probably the owner). Friends wanted to pay separate because they ordered more than us: the lady was bothered by this decision, made snarky comments, didn’t help my friends in listing what they ordered, waiting impatiently for them to remember. I paid the rest. I felt bad for my friends who were embarrassed for taking me there: Haven’t seen such level of delusional snobbism in all my travels...
Read moreNice hidden trattoria by the aquarium and museums. Luckily we got a table (everyone else after us needed reservations). Wonderful modern take on the regional foods.
Ordered the gazpacho (nice tomatoes flavour, maybe too much cheese), octopus pasta (wonderful smoked flavour!!) and a warm fig dessert and a pistachio ricotta cake.
Not the cheapest, but affordable, and for the quality it is worth it! (65 for two starters, two entrees, two desserts, a glass of wine and two coffees) servers are friendly and prompt. Worth coming here to relax and take your time with...
