It's a small kinda local? Kinda tourist trap place, we went there with no reservations and were rejected, it seems they only accept new guests who have made reservations before, no you cannot stand and wait for a table to get empty. We fixed a time for the next day and finally got in, it's small with limited seating option, tables are small and you won't get enough space, neither the table nor the chairs. Their restaurant looks nice and old and visually appealing but don't expect a relaxed night there. Their menu is also small, we tried to get a variety of options, the first meal stuffed cabbage and veggie Tagliatelle with meat sauce, the meat in stuffed cabbage wasn't purely meat and it was a meatball mixed with breadcrumbs, it tasted completely what you would expect, minced meatballs wrapped in cabbage not very special. The tagliatelle was much better, had a nice tangy sauce and the texture of freshly made pasta was smooth and well cooked. For our second meal we got cuttle fish stew and beef stripe in wine sauce, the fish wasn't pleasant, it tasted awfully fishy and this comes out from a guy who loves seafood and eats literally anything, maybe their fish was a bit stale and old? The beef wasn't my thing either, it resembled boiled cut of meat with a wine glazed sauce and onions, it tasted ok but not what i expected. You should also keep in mind that their portions are terribly small and you won't get full even after the two meal course. Their staff is friendly and helpful, they even have english menu but don't expect them to be able to explain everything in fluent english, so communication could be a bit of a problem. Overall not a bad experience but i won't recommend the place, there are much better, less expensive places with far more flavorful food in the town. Before i get out of the restaurant, i also tried to give them another chance and bought their pesto lasagna to taste. It was a really small portion for 10 euro (it's plain lasagna and pesto sauce) but it was amazing, it was one of the most delicious things i ate in Genoa and if you are planning to go to this restaurant, i definitely recommend trying their pesto, it was so creamy and fine. It had a nice balance of garlic taste and sourness, you could taste how fresh it was made and it definitely makes a difference, the only complain would be the...
Read moreThis is probably the WORST restaurant I have ever been to. There was no love in anything that they did, starting with the copied print outs of the menu, that was handwritten, filled with crossed out items and barely legible. We had a reservation at the big table. That was right in front of the kitchen. I regret looking in because the state of the kitchen was scary—dirty and disorganized. We shared lettuce stuffed with meat for the starter. it was barely edible despite being the best thing out of everything we ordered. For the main dish we ordered the meat ravioli and the pasta wth seafood. The ravioli looked like it was prepared by my four year old nephew and was watery and tasteless. The pasta with seafood looked like they took a pack of instant ramen noodles and threw some boiled seafood soup on top. It was disgusting. We took two bites and because of fear of possibly getting sick, left our full plates and asked for the bill. Both the woman that we asked for the bill nor the man that brought it asked what was wrong or questioned why we barely ate anything. They just took our 33 euros and said “thank you” pretending not to notice. Please don’t be fooled by the high google reviews they have—this place is an...
Read moreBOOK A RESERVATION!
I’m sure the food is delicious — wish I could have enjoyed it. Google doesn’t state the opening hours so I arrived at 11:45am to be told they don’t open until 12:30. I cancelled my train that I’d booked a reservation for, so I could come back when they opened. And subsequently reserved a seat on a later train (2:30). I arrived at 12:30pm and it was packed - with people already having food? So how was that possible… and then to be told I needed to make a reservation.
Clearly a popular and great spot given how full it was and that the next reservation wasn’t until 2pm.
I wish I had been told that reservations were recommended. I spent an additional 30 euros changing my train tickets in order to come here for 12:30pm.
I suggest the staff kindly inform any early arrivals to make reservations ☺️ and to contact Google to update their hours of...
