Trattoria Pugliese / 1888 Lounge Bar — Restaurant in Gioia del Colle

We went to eat at the restaurant with our child. We had to go quickly after we ordered and food served. We asked the waitress if they could pack the food for us as we have to go for an urgent matter. She left and after a while we asked for the food pack, she apologized that she threw away the food and said I am sorry I can't do anything. We complained as we ordered the food to be packed to go. She went to the kitchen and came back saying they will re-cook the food for us. She gave us a packed food but unfortunately it was collected back from the rubbish bin. We discovered that when we went back to the hotel. It is a terrible experience and wasn't expected from a restaurant with a michlen reference. I am attaching the pictures. Very shocking! We had an absolutely brilliant lunch here, I fully recommend visiting, but book before if you can! We arrived much later than we'd planned without a booking (2:30pm, late for lunch) only to find the restaurant full with locals. With us walking around and finding nothing else open in the area the staff very kindly were able to squeeze us in. So happy they did as the food is that perfect combination of authentic rustic Italian while being both elegant and fair price wise. The wine was of course excellent with lots of local options and the staff were amazing. We visited Puglia as a trekking group. This restaurant was a the place of choice chosen for two dinner nights so we cannot speak for prices since ours were included in the trekking plan.

Food was absolutely delicious with various options. They served pasta for a starter and fish for the main dish on the first day, tagliatelle as a starter with bragioli as the main for the second day.
