A Truly Special Dinner in the Heart of Chianti We had such an amazing experience at this restaurant—easily the best dinner we've had in Italy so far. The setting is beautiful, with a cozy, rustic vibe and a terrace that looks out over the Chianti hills. Even though we showed up about 30 minutes before closing and the place was clearly busy with reservations, the owner still found a way to seat us. You could tell how much he cares about his restaurant and the food he serves—he didn’t rush us at all, and he made us feel genuinely welcome. That kind of hospitality really stuck with us. The food was just incredible. We started with a board of delicate cured meats and cheeses that paired perfectly with a glass of local red wine. The lardo was especially memorable—thin, buttery, and topped with rosemary and spices. And the pasta? Absolutely delicious. Rich, hearty sauce with super tender meat on top—it was comfort food at its finest, but with a lot of care and flavor behind it. This place really has something special. Great food, a beautiful atmosphere, and an owner who truly pours his heart into what he does. If you're in the area, don’t miss it.

How classic can a Tuscan trattoria be? This atmospheric small restaurant is located on a steep slope leading up to Montefioralle (a Medieval hamlet which seemed to not have changed for a hundred years). The staff is friendly and awkward in a non-confronting way. We drank a fine Chianti Classico wine. Our meal started with a first course of tagliatelle with truffle, great in it’s simplicity. As a second dish we shared steak with rosemary and green peppercorns. Holy cow this was good. The steak was tender, juicy and cooked to a perfect rare. To accompany this masterpiece we had a nice side of grilled vegetables. Definitely worth a visit and make sure to reserve a table in advance! Side note: I am allergic to nuts and the staff was very informative and flexible with the dishes. Some reviews state that they are not careful concerning allergies. They seemed to have learned from past mistakes.

5/5 for food. 5/5 for view. 5/5 for hospitality. My wife and I made the short trip from Florence to Montefioralle, and it exceeded our expectations (both this restaurant and the beautiful little town). This restaurant was definitely a favorite meal during our trip.... we both ordered off the fresh truffle menu; I had the short pasta with ground pork and truffle, and my wife had the ravioli. Both were decadent, and different enough that it was fun to trade bites. We also started with the mixed charcuterie (misto), which was huge and also great. The outdoor seating area is literally right on a cliff, with a peaceful, quiet view of the valley below. It's an excellent respite from the crowds in Florence. The servers were very attentive, despite the outdoor seating area being across the small road from the restaurant.

My review is based on the unfriendly and unprofessional service and not on the food. I booked already 4 weeks ago on WhatsApp to make sure to get a nice table cause I read about the great view from the terrace. The booking was confirmed two days later. After that I communicated one more time on Whatsapp and got a fast reply. My wife and I arrived quite early at the restaurant at this time only two tables were occupied. The terrace is divided into two areas. The main area is more cozy and the one with the great view. The other area is at the side, where the view is covered by branches and looks a bit like the area for people who didn't book a table in advance. One of the waiters checked the booking list and couldn't find my booking. He mumbled something and then he told us to choose one of the two vacant tables at the side of the terrace. We were disappointed and I decided to ask the waiter, why we couldn't sit at the main terrace even though I booked so early. He had the guts to tell me it was already fully booked at this time, it was obviously a lie. I said "come on, we really looked forward for dining here." Then he became quite rude and disrespectful and said, "ok you can sit here, but don't say "come on" to me any more and next time you should book by phone." While telling this he changed the position of the table so that only one person could enjoy the view. We were shocked and after that his colleague took over. He was nice and friendly. But honestly the evening was spoilt already even though the food and the wine were really good. Only the summer truffles are not worth the money. I can only advise the restaurant to continue their great work in the kitchen but to improve their service and booking system. COME ON, nowadays a modern and ambitious restaurant should accept a whatsapp booking and shouldn't forget to...

La Castellana 5.0+ La Castellana is one of the restaurants we look forward to visiting every year. The restaurant is located in Montefioralle. La Castellana is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team. A dinner at La Castellana is always the best meal in the Greve area. The restaurant has a small seating area indoors and a slightly larger outdoor seating area. The service team is very friendly. The menu offers many options, and they have a large selection of wines from throughout Italy. We had a group of 6 persons and we all ordered different main courses. Many of our dishes included truffles, which were especially appreciated. Feedback from everyone in our group was extremely positive. We even had one of our individuals order a second main course; a large order of sliced steak. He said the meat was perfect and sadly he would not share with the table. We also enjoyed a selection of desserts which we did all enjoy. Overall, one of the best meals we had during our...
