The food is ok . Not out of this world. Too many choices means quality will lack . The Lasagna was ok and tasted reheated from frozen. Same for the fries which were generic frozen fries. The steak was ok, oddly looked like a cut of pork or veal. Lots of fat very little meat and it was served well done(not by choice) . The bread they bring you is very good. Probably some of the best bread you could get as a little appetizer. It was made with pizza dough , was served warm with a drizzle of olive oil. The pizza was not that great. The Calimari was disgusting and inedible (don't order this for the love of god). It had the weirdest texture and was not fried or sliced into rings. The service was good. But overall wasn't a great experience and the other guests dining there didn't appear to enjoy their meal as well.

We ate here two nights in a row because our hotel had a partnership with the restaurant, so our booked dinners were made here. The service is fine but the food lacked taste and quality. On the first evening, I ordered the fried squid and grilled eggplant. The squid was cold, flavorless, and tasted stale. The grilled eggplant was also cold and had a weird texture. On the second evening, I had the bacon and gorgonzola white pizza. Again, it was ok but not exceptional. My partner ordered a pizza that, on the menu, had "rucola" but arrived with ricotta instead. Could be a mistranslation and wouldn‘t have been so bad had he not been allergic to cheese. Overall, the food was okay but lacked the quality and flavor of other meals we‘ve had at other trattorias.

Wow! Our hotel suggested this venue for our first night in La Spezia. We were so overjoyed that we decided to dine at Trattoria da Sandro for all of our meals during our stay. For the three of us, are most expensive meal was 57 euros. It included a litre of house red wine, a calamari salad, one pizza, cutlet with fries, one salad along with table bread. The table bread was so good! Whether it be the house made focaccia or their brown bread. On our last evening we asked if they would be able to give us half and half because both their breads are so amazing.
