Zhong Chinese Restaurant 🇨🇳 — Restaurant in La Spezia

Exceeded our expectations! Beautiful decor, nice music, good menu choices, all our dishes were very tasty (pork bao, duck bao, Cantonese fried rice, rice noodles, sweet n sour pork, lemon chicken). We have amazing Chinese cuisine back home in Australia and so far the Chinese restaurants we have seen in other parts of Italy were not appealing at all, but Zhong is the perfect classic Chinese food that we were craving. Our only critique is that the rice and noodles dishes were brought out a very long time before the meat dishes. Normally one would eat the meat and stir fry dishes with the rice but they just came out too far apart so we had finished our rice before the main meat dishes arrived at the table which was a shame. A little pricey for the portion sizes but the meat to veggie ratio was high, and it’s the middle of La Spezia! We had mapo tofu and beef slices in Claypot with white rice. These dishes really hit the spot while we were craving some Chinese food. The dishes tasted authentic, and we came back the next night for takeaway again. The hostess was really accommodating and when we told her that we wanted our dishes to be spicier than the usual. She communicated our request to the kitchen and both dishes had a good level of heat and we had extra chilli slices too. She remembered us the next day we came in and met our same requests. Hands down the best Chinese food inspired restaurant we have been to. The staff are caring and go out of their way to look after you, the food is simply amazing. We shared some plates and had the dumpling degustation (6 pieces) as entree, pork with very very fine noodles, Cantonese rice and lemon chicken. WOW. ALL were sensational.
