MARIAPARADISO — Restaurant in Lecce

The location and settings are great, in a nice quiet courtyard. Staff is friendly and competent. The products used are very fresh, and of good quality. I was a little disappointed by the recipe though, as I found the dishes not so tasty. They were missing by a splash! We had the Ceviche: fish was excellent, but the whole thing was a bit bland. Could have done with more herbs and fragrance. We also had the Octopus Saliento style, which was good, but the tomato sauce was, again, very bland, although it would not take much to make it tastier (some spice, herbs). And we had the cod: the fish was excellent, but it was accompanied by mini-lettuce and cherry tomatoes, without anything done to them or any dressing. I think braising the lettuce and tomatoes would have take the dish to another level. So, all in all, good food, but lacking a bit in creativity and flavour. Pity, because the products...

I came here with a friend from New York, expecting some great food after the good reviews I read, and its charming location in the centro storico of Lecce. Instead, after some old complimentary veggies, we received some very ordinary and forgettable antipasti, then each course got progressively worse, and tasteless. The mains were almost inedible. We didn’t bother with dessert. The service was messy, repeatedly asking different wait staff (as we weren’t assigned one waiter) for our wine, and even water, which never came. They had also taken away our bread after the Primo/first course, which seemed strange. It’s a nice spot and a lovely fit out, but I would strongly suggest focusing on the food and staff training. Would not recommend...

Abbiamo cenato ieri sera in questo nuovo ristorante nel centro storico della città, attratti da una serie di particolari che denotano uno studio attento ed una notevole cura di molteplici aspetti: addobbi del vicolo e della piazzetta, entrambi riservati rispetto al passaggio di chi passeggia, con teli, piccole luminarie, piante, che invitano a dare uno sguardo più attento. Poi si notano gli arredi, con comode poltroncine e tavoli con piano in marmo. La selezione musicale che ha fatto da sottofondo musicale all'intera serata, comprendeva canzoni italiane di grandi autori e artisti, tutte di successo. Anche il susseguirsi dei brani dimostra la grande attenzione ai dettagli per rendere gradita la serata dei clienti. Il menù prevede piatti della tradizione ma anche proposte di pietanze di altri territori quali arancine e parmigiana do melanzane della tradizione sicula o melanzane al forno con salsa tahina ecc, che riporta a sapori di altri Continenti. In attesa dei piatti che abbiamo scelto, ci è stata offerta una selezione di vegetali crudi e tagliati a stick, da intingere in una crema a base di latte, olio di oliva e paprika, molto gustosa ed originale. Abbiamo gradito persino la scelta del pane che ci è stato servito: qualità eccellente, uno bianco con semi di sesamo, un altro integrale. Ottima la qualità, la cottura, i condimenti ed il sapore di tutte le pietanze che abbiamo ordinato. C'è la possibilità di scegliere buoni vini, ma noi abbiamo bevuto un'ottima birra agricola ambrata. Il servizio è stato attento per l'intera serata ed il personale molto gentile e simpatico. Il costo della cena è in linea con la media dei ristoranti di Lecce, ma a nostro avviso contenuto rispetto alla qualità, al gusto ed alla gradevolezza generale di tutta la serata. Ci torneremo...
