Overall, the atmosphere and service here were really nice and friendly. Wifi was good. The outdoor seating has great ambience, and it's nice for people watching or for couples or friends, but it definitely leans toward a rich Americans on holiday sort of vibe. If you want to avoid that, just request a table on the perimeter. I was very lucky to get a table around 8 that night without a res but be nice and speak a little Italian, it will help! The food I ordered, sad to say, all needed more seasoning, and maybe some help with presentation (see photos here). I ordered a tortino of zuchcini and bechamel, the spiedini (meat skewers) and potatoes, and a salted caramel gelato dessert. None of the flavors stood out from any of the dishes - they all needed more flavor, maybe salt and other seasoning. To give the restaurant benefit of the doubt, what they are most known for is being a steakhouse... but the prices were by the gram, and I didnt have the heart to plonk 50 euros (or more!) on a single steak dinner. Still, I would return to try it out, maybe the price point and seasoning is better on their steaks. The wine I had (a local bianco) was really good, a local Negroamare. Also, all of the servers I met were accommodating and friendly and I think all of them were multilingual in Italian and English. This place is wheelchair accessible as long as you're ok with the narrow cobblestone sidewalks. Willing to give them a 3.7 out of 5 overall (rounded up to a 4) instead of a 3 because I didn't go super meat heavy during my visit, and that's what the restaurant is best known for. If you go, good luck, and maybe...
Read moreA truly great dining experience. We arrived at 8pm on a saturday without a reservation and were able to get a table for 1.5 hours. If you want to dine later in the evening I'd suggest booking first.
Our main waiter was the absolute best, making suggestions and helping navigate the quite substantial menu. Every server we encountered was friendly and personable.
Their speciality is a range of high-quality foreign beef served rare on a hot salt block, which allows you to keep cooking it longer if you prefer. I chose Canadian black angus, and it was divine served with very tasty potato and endive. For most of the speciality meats you choose your preferred serving size. Prices are listed per kilo.
I really appreciated that they want you to have a great dining experience, so we were told that if we didn't like anything to let them know and they'd replace it. In the end, I swapped the cheesecake (fine, but no wow factor for me) with the tiramisu, which I much preferred.
A meat lovers happy place. You'll...
Read moreWe visited Tabisca, both recommended by our B&B hosts, and by reviews since it was a two minute walk. Our server sat us, explained the menu and stressed if we weren't happy with the wine or the food, let her know, and she'd help fix it up. The Negroamaro was excellent, local and enjoyable. We shared a Angus rib steak. Our meal came with roast potatoes, grilled radichio and endive, very good, but the star, without hesitation, was THE BEST, most tender melt in my mouth, perfectly seasoned steak I have ever had! We were blown away, this was the first time we've had steak served on a salt stone, and the experience could not have been better. For our desert, we had a cheesecake, and a tiramisu both were sooo good. If ever I am in Lecce again, this will be my choice without hesitation! Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had. I'm still dreaming about it. I recommend a reservation, every seat was filled, as we're the outside tables...
