A place full of history, starting with how the museum came to back in BC times. Andrea, the oldest son of the owner - Luciano Faggiano - was there and kindly told us more about what we were seeing, how did the process of discovering all these relics go and what is still there to uncover. The museo was put together by the family with their own money and they’ve done an amazing job, which puts even more value into it. And to think that they had the chance to cover all that history and still have their Trattoria! We thanked Andrea for deciding not to do that, allowing us to witness and history right before our eyes. It’s a must see! After visiting this place you’ll be walking around Lecce and thinking what might be below the floor in every corner :)

Wow… we read the story of the museum on the plaque outside which describes how the museum was the work of one man and his sons. When we stepped inside we did not expect to be given a tour by Marco, one of the sons we were just reading about – very surreal! This museum is full of real archeological features from a wide variety of time periods, and there was a helpful information sheet in English to explain everything. It starts in the basement levels and then proceeds upstairs into the house where some of the artefacts found are kept. There is also a open-air medieval watch tower to climb. Overall we spent about an hour here and loved it. Well worth the admission price!

I didn’t know what to expect from Museo Faggiano, but it turned out to be one of the most surprising and unique museum experiences I’ve had. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary building, but inside it reveals an incredible archaeological journey uncovered during a simple home renovation. Every room holds secrets from centuries past — from Roman cisterns to medieval escape routes. One of the family members was there to share the story, and his passion made the visit even more special. A true hidden gem in Lecce — totally worth your time, even if you're not usually into museums!

The exposition of historical items and archeological evidences is for sure very important for the science, but i was rather fascinated by the unique location in the middle of the city, architecture and overall aesthetic of the place. Definitely worth the visit if u want to take a look through different epochs and explore the items with no pressure from stuff. The manager at the ticket office turned out to be a son of the owner, who was passionate about the place and explained the whole discovery process in perfect English. Plan 15-30 minutes for the place and don’t miss on the underground rooms, the have a temperature difference of roughly 10C compared to...
