Anima Ristorante — Restaurant in Locorotondo

Talented chef offering something different from the traditional menus in the area. Very interesting options like crudo fish with fruit, guinea fowl stuffed with spinach pine nut and raisin. Broth in the shrimp pasta was stellar and the mixed dried pasta was cooked perfectly and had a great silky texture. Beef carpaccio with melanzane and red fruit sauce was good but took very little to make it great, the fruit was a little too intense and over powered what should be the star of the dish, the meat. And the quality of the meat was great and could have easily carried the dish with a little less 'curing'. I added some extra salt and quite a bit of black pepper and the incredible olive oil from intimi they bring to the table with excellent bread... And the carpaccio was transformed to a really impressive dish and the red fruit loved the black pepper as the meat food the red fruit. So the chef's concept was fantastic but took a little tunning on your plate. The very kind and attentive Morena in front of house was fantastically accomodating, nothing was too much trouble for her. She not only humoured my OCD wine interrogation, which grapes how long in oak, which kind of oak, etc she offered a tasting facilitated by Coravin and the wine we had thanks to her great patience was perfect. And a tribute to Puglia and its producer Cantele. All in all you should definitely give this restaurant a try if you are...

We visited on a very quiet Monday night. We didn't mind as the service, food, and decor of the place were wonderful.....it should have been much busier in my opinion. Its not the cheapest place to eat but the quality and presentation of the food was exceptional and it felt like good value for the experience we had. The gnocchi was light and delicious with an incredible shellfish sauce. The chocolate mouse was a real winner as well. Great selection of wines from a very nice interactive menu. We recommend the local white wine from Locorotondo. The young people running the place were friendly and kind. Anima defonitly worth a visit. We wish we could go back and try more...
