One appetizer big enough for two people, two glasses of wine, two meals and one kilo of cheese the sold me set me back 75 euros. However they will automatically bring a bottle of wine (which you have to pay) and open it along with bread unless you tell them not to! Now onto the review. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the city of Lucca "The City Of Walls" near Pisa than you must visit this place. Great atmosphere and peaceful. It was a great change from the tourists-catered menu you get from big cities like Rome and Florence. If you don't speak Italian then you can ask for an English menu. We ordered an appetizer for two people that consisted of cheese, three different types of meat with toasted bread. Each bread came with a different type of spread. Water of course is sold separately like any other restaurant in Italy. I ordered the "Tordelli Lucchesi 1895" an old recipe that consists of ravioli type pasta with meat inside. The outside is covered in a red sauce with seasoned ground beef. Very flavorful. The other dish was a roasted duck which was very tender and very delicious. This restaurant was so authentic, I can no longer eat in one of the many restaurants you see in Rome on every alley and street with patios outside. I highly recommended it. Read moreAntica Drogheria is a charming, traditional restaurant located on the eastern side of Lucca, just a 10-minute walk from the city center. It offers a menu of classic local dishes (though not extensive), a good variety of pizzas, and an impressive, well-curated wine list. Booking a table in advance is recommended, as it tends to fill up quickly. We had pizza, which was exceptionally good, and special requests were handled without any issues. A highlight was the unique vegetable-based dessert—a traditional specialty that I highly recommend trying. Prices are very reasonable, making this a great value. I warmly recommend a visit! The waiters speak reasonably good English. Service was not superfast, but the restaurant had lotd of customers, so it was...
Read moreThis was another one of those places that was a happy accident when we visit Lucca. Wandering around on a weekend afternoon trying to find a lunch spot and we come upon this place. They had chicken liver pate! Very nice tordelini and ratatouille dishes. Made a return visit for lunch the following weekend and had fiorentina steak - and more pate’. Beautiful vino russo della casa. Awesome home made bread. Bought a bottle of house wine to go along with our takeaway box of steak and veggies. Note that it is only open for dinner on weekdays. Our server Antonio took...
