Osteria VispaTeresa — Restaurant in Lucca

Because I love to find places that aren’t for tourists I have to say that the day we walked into Vispa Teresa was the best part of our stay in Lucca. The menu is simple and so delicious!

Elisabetta is incredible there and treated us like family. She treated us with incredible service the first time but the second time we came around she treated us like family. She loved our son!

We intentionally came back the second time seeking a great Bistecca alla Fiorentina. We found it. It was perfection.

This restaurant is simple, quaint and that’s exactly what you need. No more that 20 dishes in total. That means every dish brings love and concentration to please. Their house wines are fantastic and from their own production.

Aside from that, deserts and digestives are simple and easy to set you off on your next venture into one of the most beautiful towns Italy has to offer.

PS: We told Elisabetta that we were going to buy some wines next door and she followed us and told the owner to treat us well. Just great service!

Rating based purely on service and staff: we attempted to go to Vispa Teresa for dinner tonight. There were several tables open and one member of the staff was near the door setting tables. We smiled and said ciao and waited for her to acknowledge us. Then we waited. And waited. No acknowledgement, no salve or ciao, no one moment please. Note that there were several open tables. We waited for probably 3-4 minutes all the while she was less than 15 feet from us. We finally left to find another spot as we felt her treatment of us was quite impolite and awkward. The food is absolutely outstanding. Traditional, local Tuscan cuisine with a strong focus on dishes of the Lucca region! We had the Tortelli Fritti which were fantastic followed by Zuppa Frantoiana which was amazing and then the Peposo di Manzo con Patate which again was out of this world! All this was accompanied by the House red which was perfectly suited to all those dishes. A perfect drinking wine. The service was great and very friendly.
