Dedalo - Sensi sommersi — Restaurant in Matera

We were really looking forward to eat in this beautiful restaurant built in a cave. The menu on paper looked really good but actually what you get in your plate is overall very disappointing. I have quite a lot of food restrictions and therefore asked for orrichiette in tomato sauce. But I would have never expected to find orrichiette with pure tomato sauce from the can on top. Not even fresh can you imagine something like that in a restaurant of this standing rated 4.7?! I was expecting something more tasty. Maybe with garlic capers basilic leafs etc something simple but tastefully Italian. I kindly asked that the chef rework a bit my plate to add something to make it more eatable but he returned my plate with the same passata mixed with the pasta instead of having it on top. My friends were also quite disappointed and found the food less tasty than any random osteria. Overall I would not recommend any of friends this restaurant. They really should invest in the food rather than the walls. Get a good chef and a fresh ingredients that would make the difference. Thankfully the excellent service...

I wanted to stay away from the touristic area and asked around about a nice restaurant to have a romantic and quiet night with my wife (since the grandparents were babysitting our then 1 year old). we were told to go to Dedalo. we had a nice walk down the hill and found ourselves in this beautiful restaurant. the ambiance was incredible and fit in to the Matera feel of being inside a cave. The service was incredible and the food was delicious. they really treated us like we were family and the chef even came out and we had a very nice conversation. They welcomed us with a glass of champagne with small pieces of frozen chocolate raspberries which were to "die for" according to my wife. And when my wife asked about what they were they said they made the chocolate themselves and gave her a little complementary bag to go. Questa recensione dovrebbe intitolarsi "Tanto rumore per nulla", in quanto non so se la cifra spesa (alta per il rapporto qualità prezzo) è giustificata dalla qualità del cibo e del servizio o per l'ego del proprietario, che sicuramente ha creato una struttura unica nel suo genere per il posto, ma ha perso di vista l'obiettivo principale, cioè quello della ristorazione. Procederò nella descrizione della serata trascorsa al "Dedalo" in modo schematico così da dare un supporto chiaro a chi legge . Ubicazione: il locale è ubicato nell'incantevole Matera, raggiungibile a piedi facilmente, oppure in auto solo se si è autorizzati al parcheggio in quella zona. Accoglienza: premesso che ci avevano consigliato questo locale oltre che per la qualità, anche per la cortesia e l'accoglienza, non abbiamo avuto un impressione così esaltante sia all'arrivo al locale sia quando abbiamo prenotato telefonicamente. Primo impatto: molto buono, un bel locale, con tavoli e accessori di qualità che fa pensare di essere nel posto giusto per una serata speciale, però dopo un piccolo cadou di benvenuto (con prosecco e qualche fritto), all'arrivo del maître abbiamo avuto una sensazione strana, della serie "ordinate ora tutto e subito o mai più" quindi avessimo voluto degustare un piatto e poi scegliere una direzione diversa per gli altri, ci è stato fatto capire che la cosa non era gradita (tono della voce e linguaggio del corpo molto chiari). Pietanze: abbiamo preso due primi (tortelli e gnocchi) e devo dire ad onor del vero molto buoni (sono arrivati anche con sorprendente velocità) dopo però avevamo scelto due contorni (peperoni cruschi e tortino di melenzane) per i peperoni posso capire che non abbiano incontrato i nostri gusti, ma le melenzane alla parmigiana non avevano un gusto chiaro, erano anonime e poco gustose, il dolce poi è stato davvero pessimo e difficilmente commestibile, per finire un discreto caffè servito in tazzine di porcellana con coperchio. Terminata la cena, nonostante il ristorante non fosse ancora pieno ed eravamo nel momento di relax e chiacchiere del dopo cena, abbiamo percepito una sensazione di fretta nel liberare il tavolo, con la scusa che il proprietario ci avrebbe fatto visitare il locale, un pò stupiti abbiamo acconsentito ed abbiamo iniziato il tour con guida del proprietario (ovviamente il tutto alla velocità della luce). Conto: 103 euro per 2 coperti, 2 primi, 2 contorni, 2 dolci, 2 caffè 1 calice di rosso ed 1 bottiglia di acqua. Motivazione del togliere 3 stelle alle 5: - 1 per la fretta nello scegliere le portate, - 1 per la qualità dei contorni e del dolce (visto il costo esagerato sopra i 10 Euro c.u.) e - 1 stella per la presunzione del proprietario nel rapportarsi con i clienti.
