Sassi in Miniatura — Local services in Matera

This is a phenomenal souvenir shop. You can see them working on pieces in the shop as well. They’ve got magnets, clocks, little mortal and pestles (not functional since the stone is soft) and of course the lamps! Really great quality goods compared to other shops. The work, the passion and the patience invested in this project deserve respect. The place offers a great overview of the charming city of Matera and all they ask for is a donation. You can buy different products and/or sculptures created by the same team that is behind the "Miniatura". Eccellente il negozio che oltre a varie sculture e souvenirs, ospita una magnifica riproduzione dei Sassi di Matera in miniatura, fatta in tufo dal padre del titolare Rizzi, un artista-scultore locale che visse nella casa-grotta di che si trova di fronte. La casa di fronte (visita a pagamento) e' una tappa obbligata e complementare rispetto alla visita della Casa della Grotta del Vicolo Solitario che avevamo fatto prima in quanto questa e' molto più suggestiva e fornisce più dettagli sulle abitudini e sulla vita che vi si svolgeva. Uniche e bellissime le riproduzioni, fatte tutte in tufo dallo stesso nonno Rizzi, artista-scultore locale che ci visse in quella casa fino al compimento dei suoi 25 anni. Il posto e' ancora nelle mani della stessa famiglia (la nipote vende i biglietti :)) L'audio multilingue molto informativa accompagna la visita. Per le lingue più rare (per i miei familiari era il polacco) ci sono le guide scritte con la traduzione perfetta dell'audio. Consiglio...
