Sushi Stone — Restaurant in Matera

I highly recommend Sushi Stone. This is my fourth or fifth time visiting Matera and I have eaten at four or five different sushi restaurants in that time and this is by far my new favorite. They offer all you can eat for lunch and dinner as well as à la carte. I always choose à la carte. Today my server was amazing. Not speaking Italian I needed a lot of help and he was great. He probably came to my table ten times in the hour I spent there and never made me feel like a nuisance. I enjoyed a shrimp tempura roll and gyoza. I also ordered dishes to take back home and everything was delicious. All of my special requests were honored and they did not up charge me for anything. The restaurant is super convenient, right behind the Palumbaro, beautiful, and the prices are very reasonable in spite of being n the middle of tourists. NON LO CONSIGLIO.

Un mio collega blogger gastronomico mi consiglia di provare Stone. L'ambiente è davvero particolare, comunica tanta territorialità ed è pure figo. Ho fatto un viaggio a Matera con la mia compagna per recensire e valutare alcune strutture alberghiere per un noto giornale.

Decidiamo di provare Stone, vicino la piazza centrale. E non era in programma. Il menu è banale, ha dei prezzi oltre la media e non offre nulla di davvero tipico come descritto. Immagine, è solo immagine.

Per capire davvero la cucina e fare la prova del nove, senza sbilanciare su altre portare, scelgo un primo. Cacio e pepe. E' un piatto difficile per carità, ma con questo ho capito che Stone non è essenza di cucina. E non è nient'altro che un bel locale dove poter intrattenersi a bere un Martini e ascoltare qualche live. E forse, potrebbe far felice qualche ingenuo turista non Italiano, che non conosce l'Italia.

Mi viene servito un cacio e pepe con una quantità di pepe in grani interi da far ridere. Pieno pieno di granelli interi di pepe nero. Non si può mangiare un piatto del genere. Segnalo al cameriere l'impossibilità di poterlo mangiare, e con quel tipico fare di professionalità becera mi comunica che il Cacio e Pepe da Stone è sempre stato fatto così, e sarà sempre fatto così. Non cambierà.

Inoltre, mi ricorda che la ricetta originale del Cacio e Pepe prevede il pepe in grani interi. Comunico al cameriere con pacatezza che evidentemente per il mio gusto, e specifico chiaramente, risulta immangiabile. Gli chiedo di portarlo via perchè non lo avremmo mangiato. E la ricetta originale mi dispiace, ma non lo prevede.

Ordino un tagliere di formaggi tipici lucani. Che vergogna. Gli stessi che si possono acquistare in offerta all'Esselunga o al Carrefour. Al massimo, ci poteva essere il pecorino di Moliterno. Ma quello sardo, prodotto da Central. Prezzo, 8 euro. Ancora più vergogna.

Il mio dispiacere e insoddisfazione passa inosservato, anzi mi sento quasi in difficoltà. Il cameriere non ripone alcun cenno ne di dispiacere e ne di scuse per un piatto non gradito.

Pago, esco e prendo una boccata d'aria. Mi hanno fatto pagare anche il piatto che ho chiesto di mandare indietro. Come se nulla fosse, senza alcuna attenzione al cliente.

Purtroppo mi dispiace che questa spiacevole e triste esperienza sia capitata a me che lavoro come giornalista nel settore. Dovrò dire la mia di questo posto, e non ne...

From the beginning the staff was very indiscreet. Examples: 1. It‘s totally undersandable that they want to measure the guests temperature due to the pandemic situation but they did so as soon as we entered the restaurant without any announcement. 2. We had no chance to sit down at our table (that we booked the day before) in a calm way because the staff wanted to take our order at the same moment as we we were taking off our jackets, although we hadn‘t even seen the menu and we told the staff twice that we want to take our time to take a look at the menu.
