This restaurant has huge potential especially due to the prime location and view, however this ranks the lowest for restaurants that we have eaten at in Italy so far. I wasn’t going to review it but hoping restaurant takes these comments to heart. We had the best view in the house inside restaurant. The two younger waiters were very pleasant, but the older, grumpy waiter wasn’t very helpful while we were ordering and kept trying to rush us. Btw, we were the only ones inside restaurant. Some were having drinks outside. It was was one of the few restaurants open around 6/00 pm as the majority open later. We had had a king day touring and weather was wet, so we just wanted to relax and have a nice dinner and drink before heading back to room for an early start. Grumpy was disappointed we weren’t having an entire bottle of wine?first time!). My husband liked the seafood pasta dish but only little clams and nothing else. Pictures shown in menu nothing like meals we got. My pasta had a vinegary taste to it and when mixed with cream sauce not the best result. Had to go and pay in owners office. Very unusual! As well most expensive coperto at $6 E and we ordered sparking water and received a smaller bottle but charged for two servings at $6 E. I really hope owner takes these reviews to heart as after looking at reviews later, we weren’t the only disappointed patrons.

No hubieron postres.

Would NOT recommend at all!

Price was fair, food decent (boring and dry pork carpacio, but great and tasty seafood pasta), venue nice with a bit of view of the old town.

However; reasons I wouldn't recommend and 1-star rating;

  1. Poor vibe (almost no guests), which made the waiters stand outside right next to our table talking together, which made us feel almost watched over - and not in a nice serviceminded way.

  2. Service with poor attitude, like they couldn't care less if you ate there or another place.

  3. DEALBREAKER: as a couple we wanted a light lunch, and asked to share one anti-pasti dish, one primi-dish and a side dish. They said OK, but as we wanted to pay, they doubled our full bill, meaning we paid for two of each dish even though they served us one plate for each dish to share. They simply said, that was the price for two persons, which didn't make any sense as we could then have gotten two of each dish for the same price... We said they could have informed us upfront, but they just got mad in italien, leaving us no option. Even the two Coke Zero we ordered were doubled by them in the bill, as if we had had four, which wasn't the case. Laughable! Glad the amount were only 40 euro and not more.

I would highly recommend TO FIND ANOTHER PLACE to eat within Matera, and avoid feeling like fools after eating at this tourist trap. Otherwise, I enjoyed beautiful and lovely Matera!!

We asked if we could only have two drinks as it was early, around 6:30, as an aperitivo and although hesitant were told that is fine since it was before the dinner rush. The waiter took a while to take our order despite being one of three tables and when we didn’t order any food, got mad, despite already telling him we only wanted a drink. When it came time to pay, they added 3€ per person for coperto, even though we literally only had two drinks. Equivalent of adding a 30% tip. Honestly disgusting, not even in the best restaurants in America would someone do that. The service provided was horrible and usually coperto is added because they bring you bread and we use up their cutlery, but in this case nothing besides the two drinks were given to us, so the €3 coperto wasn’t necessary. I come from Abruzzo so I understand when I restaurant is trying to scam tourists and they did just that. I really do not recommend this place. Horrible,...
