The staff were very friendly here, let me preface it with that, but our meal was 47 euros and it simply was not worth it. We went for the set menu. Like we're finding here, menus are small and limited, and this one was better than most but it wasn't all that varied. No beef options at all, for instance. One pork dish which is unusual and mostly chicken. We found each option to be very expensive and the starters were too. Raita alone was 4 euros for a small portion, for example. So we went for the set menu which offered more value for money. The starters were old, premade, and refried. Soggy rather than crispy. The curry had so much yoghurt in it, I think I've had better ones from the supermarket. Asda does a better job. The meat was hit or miss. So tough it was leathery, then chewy. The pilau was very nice and the naan too. Considering the price isn't insubstantial, I expected fresh and a better quality. They weren't reinventing the wheel here with innovative dishes. We had Rogan Josh and some onion bhaji etc. I'm just glad we did have the set menu because if we hadn't, it would have been 7 euros extra per person, and it wasn't worth what we paid anyway. I wouldn't return but the meal wasn't disgusting, just poor hence 2 stars.
Editing to drop to 1 star thanks to my mother being ill the morning...
Read moreWe were visiting Milan and after a few days of Pizza & Pasta we were craving Desi food. Ended up at Dawat and OMG what an experience! If you are looking for authentic Indian food with all the right spices this is your place. The owner Ashwinder was a DELIGHT to meet. He personally helped us choose what to order and was a part of the experience through out. Being a Pakistani living away from Pakistan this visit to Dawat was suchhh a treat for us not only because of the AMAZING food but because of his hospitality and interaction with us throughout. From starters to desserts it was a wonderful experience. 100% recommended for anyone who is visiting Milan! Thank you Ashwinder and Dawat! Must try: Madrasi Chicken Chicken...
Read moreFirst and last visit for us. This restaurant has Money minded approach. Tiny portions - like dal makhni - a portion which only 1 person in India will normally eat in one serving. Food quality - hardly any gravy in kadai paneer - just imagine..! Salad - some cucumber slices, white onions and few tomato slices - 8 eur..! 4 ppl will have to order 4 sabji portions to have a good meal.. d portions are so small..! And eventually Overcharged with extra item.. upon all this when discussed.. waved the extra and gave 6 eurs discount..! thanks but a lost battle..! And even d food quality was just barely average..! I am sure the owner is going to read this - but hey.. dude.. isnt...
