What a Scamming Disappointment!
I've been a loyal 'La Romana' customer for the past 10 years, first in Rome, and the past six months in Milan. While 'La Romana' remains my favorite Italian ice cream chain, this particular shop is a huge disappointment in terms of service, and I'm coming to the conclusion that spending 200Eur per month in a shop that treats you badly and is scamming customers isn't a wise choice. On 21/11/20, the cashier insisted on taking my pre-paid card even after I reminded her of the Covid-19 regulations in place. I've always paid by using the number and not the physical card. The girl who served me was quite rude. I saw her slowly adjusting the weight to the gram. She didn't answer me when I politely asked her to use the tare option. When I asked again she rolled her eyes. She also told me that they don't use the tare option. This is not the first time I've noticed this being done at this shop, nor the first that I've pointed it out. I'm really sad and disappointed and never have I experienced such bad customer service in Milan.
Read moreUpdated after the reply by the owners (or, most likely, the marketing team). I appreciate you "prefer to define [y]ourselves as a family of artisanal gelato shops" and that you "respect the recipes of [y]our founder" and that you are "still Italian and 100% family owned", and I am sure you use top ingredients. Nevertheless, the atmosphere is one of a big chain without much soul, and the gelato tasted like cream more than anything else.
I went to this place because it was the only open gelateria in the area late on a weeknight. The staff were competent and friendly, but the environment was of a big chain, and the gelato didn't impress me; the predominant flavour in all the three I tasted (pistachio, milk, almond), even if containing the actual nuts, was the cream more than anything. Suitable for tourists and as gelato parlours abroad in places lacking...
Read moreI've tried different ice creams around the city (and not necessarily in the touristic places), however, they're all far from what you get here. All sortiments we've tried, are all so creamy and so tasty. Not a bit of that slushy, icy taste you get elsewhere. Not to mention the flavors. Oh boy! They're simply great. Unbelievable. From the classic ones (on the right and part of central board) to the more complex ones (on the left board). Especially those with crunchy nuts and biscuits and what other amazing things they add to the recipe. And on tip of that, the girls are so decent and welcoming and ready to help you make a decision (they give you samples to taste). I will never forget this experience. It's among the very few special I kept to my heart.
P.S. In the late hours be prepared even for a waiting line (20-25 minutes), even during week days...
