Ishi Oji — Restaurant in Milan

We’ve been regulars at this restaurant, both at the Loreto and Navigli, and the food has always been great. But last month, the service was a disaster. A waiter dropped and shattered dirty plates right on our table. Glass flew everywhere, one piece nearly hit my dog, some scraped our arms, and sauce splattered all over our coats. The waiter quickly sprayed something on the stains, said a quick “sorry,” and walked off. When we got home, we realized the sprayed areas on our coats had faded. Washing didn’t help, so we went back to the restaurant to ask what they could do. Instead of apologizing, the staff just asked if we had taken them to a laundry shop by ourselves. In the end, they told us to leave the coats with them and that they’d let us know when they were cleaned. A week passed with no updates, so we reached out. The manager(or boss) casually told us the coats had been cleaned and were at the dry cleaner, ready for pickup. That night, we went to the restaurant, only to be told they had forgotten to pick them up and that we’d have to come back the next day. They finally sent the coats back a day later. The stains weren’t completely gone, but by that point, we were just done. Apart from the waiter’s one quick “sorry” and an apology when we contacted the owner, the staff couldn’t have cared less. Servizio clienti (1/5): Riuscire a parlarci e' davvero difficile. Non hanno una chat o email ma solo chiamate. Se qualcuno vuole chiedere informazioni, e' obbligato a stare ai loro orari o sperare che rispondono. Peccato.

Location (3/5): Non richiama di certo l'oriente ma piena di verde ed accogliente. Luminosa. Adatta sia a pranzi business che di passaggio

Presentazione dei piatti (4/5): Le foto che avevo trovato, lasciamo intendere presentazioni molto piú appariscenti. Alcuni piatti lo sono stati. Altri un pò meno.

Qualità dei prodotti (5/5): Superiore alla media (per degli ayce). Un riso molto molto asciutto unica pecca. Quello che ho apprezzato, oltre alla qualità leggermente superiore agli standard ayce, e' stata l'originalità e l'inventiva dei piatti. Hanno rivisitato molti piatti ed aggiunto dei tocchi di novità. Era anche ora! Solo per questo merita il primo posto! Inoltre, le salse servite erano originali. Forse l'unico che usa una salsa di soia e wasabi non chimico! Top.

Accoglienza (2/5): Caotica. Fanno il doppio turno per i posti a sedere: 19-21.30 e poi 21.30-23.30. Bisogna mangiare di fretta e con ansia. Un vero peccato. Inoltre, hanno un servizio di accoglienza con champagne, ma si dimenticano di farlo a tutti i tavoli. Personale non sempre presente per le ordinazioni e non sempre comprendono la lingua Italiana. Insomma, abbastanza caotico.

Servizio (2/5): Non all'altezza. Fanno confusione con le portate. Non sempre molto disponibili. E le modifiche al menu, anche minime, non sono ammesse. Peccato

Prezzo (3/5): Superiore alla media degli ayce. 30 euro il week-end. Ma per l'originalità dei piatti, li merita tutti.

Conclusione: Location tranquilla e minimal. Ordinata e pulita. Qualità della materia prima superiore alla media ma il suo punto di forza sono la rivisitazione dei piatti. Unico vero podio per questo ayce. Peccato per il contorno del servizio ed accoglienza. Merita una tappa...

New Year’s Eve early dinner (hate the typical turmoil of celebrating an ordinary day). This is in my opinion one of the best sushi restaurants in Milan. Full of Chinese Uni young people. Nice vibe. Offerings of Prosecco and two special dishes by the staff in view of the new year. I never eat uramakis, too much rice and too little fish. I always go for sashimi and tartare with some excursion in tempura veggies and prawns. A very pleasant experience, as usual the staff is nice and attentive. In bed at 11pm with a glass of Piper-Heideseck. Who could ask for...
