Iter is a bar located in navigli near the canal in Milan. We visited on a Saturday night and I have to say it was one of the best experiences in Milan. The atmosphere is incredible: Japanese accents throughout the place and even the drinks have Japanese names which makes it creative and original. Service is great. Staff made sure to check on us and offer their recommendations. We didn’t make a reservation but we got a table pretty quickly. The place is not huge but has both tables and seats on the bar. They also have tables on the outside but it was a pretty cold night so we asked to be inside. The menu is very interesting: they offer cocktails and a wide sake selection. For the first round we had bebop and hanami drinks. Let me say, bebop is one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. They describe it as umami and it definitely is right, the flavor is subtle but very inviting. You enjoy every sip of it. I’m Mexican so I enjoy strong drinks and this one was definitely strong but the flavors made me enjoy it even more. Bebop was visually incredible. They use this great see through ice so drinking this was both a visual and culinary experience. For the second round we had two glasses of Prosecco and it was delicious as well. We really enjoyed our night here and prices are high but consistent with what they offer. Definitely this is a must visit bar when...
Read morePossibly our worst cocktail bar experience of our entire 3+ week trip. We went on January 3rd. Our bartender at Backdoor 43 (which we loved) said great things about this place so we checked online, saw they were open during the day, and decided to head over around noon. It was closed (Google is often wrong with Italian bars hours we had found so no big deal). We checked again a little after 3, still closed and then again around 7, when it was open but they told us the bar was nearly completely full, we should have made a reservation, but if we sit at the bar and drink fast we can have one cocktail. I asked our bartender what time the bar opened and he said "we have been open since 8. You could have come anytime" in a rude way I had heard people said Italian service staff could be but we had yet to experience. The drink was subpar as well so we would have left anyway even if we...
Read moreIter is tucked away from the chaos of Naviglio Grande on the quiet Via Fusetti. Iter is intimate, but spacious, thanks to its high ceilings, where the large bar wooden bar counter is the focal point. Bar stools are replaced with large, comfortable armchairs, at the perfect height to comfortably eat and drink.
What makes the first menu at Iter stand out is the use of only Italian ingredients. Obviously, there is no shortage of vermouth, amaros and even gins in Italy, but what about spirits like whisky? No problem, they use a great single cask scotch bottled by an Italian at Strathclyde.
However, the real magic of this bar is inspired by its name, which means journey in Latin. Every six months, the team will go on a trip to a new country, bringing back the best food, liqueurs and spirits to fuse with their Italian menu, making them the first fusion...
