Mag Cafe — Restaurant in Milan

This is one of the best cocktail places in Europe.

The place: Situated in the in-district „Navigli“, the place is very vibrant and well visited throughout the whole week. And still, you can have a nice chat with the mixologists during all the business in the background. The vibe is very chill, but the team takes their drinks very seriously though. A perfect combination.

The menu: Those guys are putting a lot of effort and creativity into crafting the perfect looking menu. All main cocktails on the menu are custom made, perfectly balanced and extremely fair priced as well. The design of the menu is superb and has a travelers theme to it, including QR code for further info. A great piece of work and a dream for every drink lover who likes to travel.

The drinks: Top notch, hand-crafted, high-quality cocktails. The shelves are filled with old classic liquors - everything that you would expect from a perfectly prepared bar and even more - but also stocked with house-made “FARMILY” branded pre-mixed bitters, liquors and vermouths.

They have two customized Negronis on the menu, and because I love a good Negroni, I had both - both are delicious, perfectly balanced and among the best Negroni variations I have ever tasted.

Overall: MAG is THE place for cocktails and drinks in Milano and MAG performs!

This place truly deserves its fame. I was visiting Milano from Barcelona and found this one listed in the book “WHERE BARTENDERS DRINK” in Milano.

The first night I went, they were packed and couldn’t find a place for me by the bar, so I booked a spot for the next night.

I showed up half an hour before my reservation, and they greeted me by the door with my name, without checking the book! I mean, if that’s not good service…

The staff was kind, fun, and informative. They explained everything about the menu, guided me to try a drink selection for my taste, and were on top of their game all night. The cocktails were delicious and innovative, without unnecessary frills.

They talked wonders about their other bars and their own spirits brand. Knowing I love cocktail bars, they booked me a place in another TOP speakeasy from their group. And that second place was mind blowing.

These people really know what they are doing, in terms of mixology, service, business, marketing, and branding. They are building an empire in the hospitality industry and it has nothing to envy to some bars from the world’s best list.

Marketing ploy. Don’t bother going here and paying for such mediocre drinks made by a unfriendly “mixologist” so much effort for nothing. Drink Kong has been a lot cheaper and great!

I had an extremely negative experience at Mag Cafe, 1930 in Milan, but fortunately, Drink Kong left a positive impression on me. The staff at Drink Kong were much friendlier, and it was evident that their bosses genuinely cared about providing quality service to their customers. When I mentioned that I live in Japan, one of the staff members shared that they had actually traveled to Japan and spent about 10 days visiting sake makers. In comparison, the drinks at Drink Kong were reasonably priced, unlike at Mag Cafe 1930 where I spent 54 euros merely to "secure a reservation by befriending the staff at Mag Cafe 1930." It was a disappointment considering the less than average experience I had at 1930. At Drink Kong, I only spent 15 euros for a drink and left a 5 euro tip.
