My recent visit to L'Alchimia was an unforgettable culinary journey that truly exemplifies the essence of high-end Italian dining. Located in the heart of Milan, this restaurant combines exquisite cuisine, impeccable service, and a sophisticated ambiance.

Upon entering, we were welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere, highlighted by elegant dรฉcor and attentive staff. The restaurant seamlessly blends modern design with a cozy, intimate setting, perfect for any special occasion.

The menu at L'Alchimia, crafted by Executive CHEF GIUSEPPE POSTORINO, is a testament to the rich culinary traditions of Italy, presented with contemporary flair. We started our meal with the Tartare di Tonno โ€“ a delicate tuna tartare with a balance of fresh flavors that was simply divine. Another standout appetizer was the Carpaccio di Gambero Rosso, featuring succulent red shrimp that melted in the mouth.

For the pasta course, we indulged in the Tagliolini al Tartufo, a decadent dish of homemade tagliolini pasta infused with the earthy aroma of truffle, and the Risotto alla Milanese โ€“ a classic Milanese saffron risotto that was perfectly creamy and rich.

The main courses were nothing short of spectacular. The Ossobuco alla Milanese was a highlight, with tender veal shanks served alongside the saffron risotto, embodying comfort and tradition. The Branzino al Sale, a salt-crusted sea bass, was cooked to perfection, its delicate flavors enhanced by the unique preparation.

Dessert at L'Alchimia was the perfect conclusion to our meal. The Tiramisรน Classico was a beautifully executed version of the classic Italian dessert, with layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream. The Gelato al Pistacchio offered a rich, nutty flavor that was both refreshing and indulgent.

The wine list is extensive and carefully curated, featuring a diverse selection of Italian wines. Our sommelier guided us through a few exquisite choices that perfectly complemented our meal.

Three stars at the most for this lovely restaurant in the outskirts of Milan city centre. Service is excellent but very disorganized. We had to call for service at least 5-6 times during the evening. We had an amazing waiter but due to the fact that he had many tables to service, we were constantly waiting on one person or another for service.

The food here was pretty average. My fish starter was under seasoned and flavorless. My main pasta which was a Taglioline with white truffle was totally lacking in truffle and slightly dry. At โ‚ฌ55 for a bowl of pasta I expect more. The dessert was lovely and the petit fours a total disappointment. We were four people and not one person rated it over 3 stars.

The atmosphere is amazing and the sommelier is also great and they have a fabulous wine list, including many gems from the area. But it was a total disaster to take an expensive Pinot from the region and then throw it in the ice bucket, sorry guys that was bad and not a Michelin experience. I expect more. It was an incredible wine destroyed by the chilling and not sure what happened, obviously a mistake which they tried to compensate later with free grappa. I am afraid you need more attention to detail at this level to deserve the star you have.

Having informed the restaurant in advance about the food requirements, the menus handed around were not reflecting of my request. It was the normal menu and none of the dishes were ok for three out of four in our group. I expect this in my local cheap and cheerful restaurant in a top end one. Also one of the people received starters which they could not eat as tomatoes were on them, a requirement I specifically asked for.

Quite a disappointing experience and I was really looking forward to it. I doubt I would come here again. For me at this level you have to do better. Itโ€™s got to be the package, food, wine, service and value for money. In at least two of these categories it scores less...

Our visit to this restaurant was a last-minute decision due to unforeseen travel issues. On Sunday, July 7, 2024, we were traveling from Zurich to Florence and had to change our plans because of a train service strike in Milan. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our reservation at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Florence. This restaurant was the only Michelin-starred place we could book on the same day, which is why we ended up dining here. Regarding the food, we ordered the โ‚ฌ130 set menu without wine pairing. Here are our thoughts on each dish: - The bread was quite firm and served at a cooler temperature than expected. - The first dish, featuring kiwi fruit and tomato, had a strong sour flavor reminiscent of Super Lemon candy. - The second dish consisted of four lobster ravioli in a broth. The ravioli texture was firmer than we preferred, and the lobster flavor was subtle. The broth was satisfactory. - The third dish, made with eel, was the highlight of the meal, as eel is naturally flavorful. - The main lamb dish included a rib that was a bit chewy with tendons that were difficult to cut, a meatball that was firmer than expected, and lamb wrapped with vegetables that had a strong gamey taste. While the dishes were not to our personal taste, we appreciate the effort and creativity of the chefs. The service was generally good throughout the meal. However, we were disappointed with the delay in serving the dessert, which took 26 minutes after the main course. When we inquired about it, we felt our concern was not adequately addressed. We ate here on a Monday evening. We arrived before opening and for the first hour we were the only patrons. Apparently Americans eat far earlier than civilized people. :) This is one of the most inviting high end restaurants - the layout and staff make it almost seem like you're in a friendly living room rather than in a restaurant. The tables are spaced quite generously, so even after the tables were filled, it still felt very private. Service was impeccable and everyone went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The sommelier had excellent English and a great sense of humor. We did not get the tasting menu - we shared a number of plates among us, and enjoyed a wide variety of dishes. While there were many flavors that were unexpected and novel, other than the rabbit liver ravioli, none were discordant or jarring. Even that, while unusual, we were glad to have tasted. The white truffle spaghetti was possibly the best I've ever eaten. Although their spaghetti with chili pepper and squid was a close second. The risotto was impeccable and delightful. The meats were presented in new and novel ways with unexpected flavor combinations that were immensely satisfying. The veal sweetbreads were rich and transcendent as meat dishes go. By the time dessert came I didn't think they could do any better, but all of the desserts, in particular, the tiramisu and the Moon were the best of the best. Our meal took over three hours, but the pacing was excellent. I never felt rushed, nor did I ever feel like there was too much time between courses. By the end, we were all completely satisfied and delighted. L'Alchimia is not inexpensive, but I think, for a restaurant of this caliber, that it is an excellent value.
