Maido! — Restaurant in Milan

We were excited for some Japanese food that wasn’t sushi and came here for lunch. Our 2 dishes took almost an hour to arrive, and when they did, the order was incorrect. We had not ordered okonomiyaki. That said, the okonomiyaki was the best part of the meal. The noodles were not very good - on par with Panda Express-style Chinese food, like at a mall food court. The okonomiyaki thankfully tasted similar to what I had in Japan.

Something I was very unimpressed by that luckily didn’t affect our lunch was seeing the staff procuring more takoyaki from downstairs - in frozen supermarket bags. They do not make their takoyaki fresh. And given how small their menu is, they really should.

I would go here for okonomiyaki and onigiri but nothing else. I hope they improve their other menu items and their...

I love Osaka culinary tradition and this place is what I was looking for in Milan (they have Okonomiyaki, Udon and so on). The food served in this very small restaurant is carefully prepared, with an original taste. I would like to suggest this place to all the ones that like to try something new from Japan. Good value for the price and nice environment as well. The only bad aspect of the place is that it is really small and it is almost impossible to find a place to seat in busy days, so you have to be lucky...

Esperienza abbastanza surreale. Abbiamo chiamato il mercoledì a pranzo per prenotare due posti alle 20 della sera stessa, con successo. Arrivate al locale, lo troviamo vuoto ad eccezione di una coppia. Veniamo accolte con gentilezza e informate della mancanza di alcuni piatti. Abbiamo ordinato due antipasti e due piatti di udon, scegliendo tra quello che era rimasto disponibile. Dopo aver pagato la cameriera ci informa che avevano fatto confusione e purtroppo gli udon erano finiti, ma che avrebbero potuto sostituirli con spaghetti soba. Piccola delusione, ma accettiamo. Pochi minuti dopo ci vengono serviti pezzetti di spaghetti soia, completamente spezzati, più che stracotti e mal assemblati. Come se fossero gli ultimi spaghetti spezzati di qualche confezione ormao finita. Chiediamo qualche spiegazione e la cameriera ci spiega che non sa bene perché ma la cuoca ha deciso di spezzare tutti gli spaghetti in pezzi piccolissimi e che effettivamente sono stati cotti qualche minuto in più, e che sicuramente non è normale. Non ci viene offerta una scusa e nemmeno altro se non questa spiegazione/ammissione, ma a tutti quelli entrati dopo di noi nel locale (erano le 20,30) viene detto che gli spaghetti sono tutti finiti o addirittura che la cucina è chiusa.
