Mao hotpot — Restaurant in Milan

For a hotpot i’m sure it’s really good, but be careful before you go if you haven’t been before. Hotpot is super weird. DON’T. GET. SPICY. If you’re like me and you sometimes enjoy spicy food, but pike not too spicy, well Don’t be fooled when the guy tells you that the “less spicy” spicy one is not that spicy. It’s literally pepper broth. Spiciest thing i’ve ever eaten and it was supposed to be the mild one? I was really freaked out by the whole thing. I was w my boyfriend and neither of us had any idea what we were doing. Thing is, it’s not like western cuisine where you get served tasty food. You get served weird broth, weird raw stuff u’ve never seen before that made me focus on raw food disease for the whole dinner, and a little stand where you can “build your own sauce” with freaky bases like oyster sauce and other weird stuff. Freaky. So if i went w some chinese friend who could’ve guided me i’d have loved it. We ordered way too much and by the end of it i was about to throw up. Also i have no idea for how long i should boipd the raw meat so that it’s safe to eat! It takes so much effort you pay 35€ and have to cook your own food. Crazy. Well. 4 stars bcs it seemed...

Strongly recommended! Beware of the double shifts in the evening, I’d go for the second one, from approx 20:30 till they close. Great variety of high quality food, ranging from shrimp to different kinds of tofu, meat and fish balls, veggies, skewers of meat, pork, lamb, dumplings, beef tongue and tripe, everything fresh and delicious. The bone broth is excellent. The mushroom broth is more bland but clean tasting. The sweet and sour and the tomato broths are the best. Staff is kind, the guys are especially sweet and good looking:D. Lively environment, cool vibe. Book in advance, it’s a quality all you can eat....

Il personale è accogliente e disponibile, pronto a guidare i meno esperti nella scelta degli ingredienti e nella preparazione del piatto. L'ambiente è curato nei dettagli, con un arredamento che richiama la tradizione cinese.
