How utterly wonderful it was.
If you're looking for a comforting, upmarket yet traditional ambience with excellent wine, food, and service, then this is the place for you. You really can't go wrong.
The starter was the special of the day: ricotta filled deep fried courgette flowers. Crispy, yummy, soft in the centre. Perfect. Then, for main, I ordered a milanese veal chop with the saffron risotto and bone marrow was just delicious. Meat soft as butter, strong yet balanced flavours in the sauce and risotto, and a hell of a portion size. In fact, they gave me the smaller plate of rabbit pasta at first assuming I'd be eating a smaller portion. No, sir—and I gave it a good go, nearly got through the lot to my stomach's dismay.
Then managed to fit in dessert! It was too good to pass up. Champagne jelly with a panna cotta and salted meringue shard. Good lord, it was delicious.
The service was great too, our waiter took a lot of time and care answering any questions about wines and clearly knew his stuff. He was also good fun, cracking jokes. And the staff on entering the restaurant were also very accommodating—we hadn't made a booking and it was a Friday night, yet they found us a table. My only note was that the bread was taken away before we had finished it, and though we were incredibly full, they could've asked. I'm sure I would've tried to find room because it was so good.
I'll be inclined to return next time we are in Milan. Thanks for such a...
Read moreWe had a very good recommendation for this place, along with the reviews here, so we went hungry and with big expectations. First there was no price list for the wines - lottery for what you will spend. Then we ordered fresh pasta with meat (it was boiled - not very good), the pasta itself was really fresh and after all I can say yummy. Nevertheless I was super hungry afterwards. My boyfriend ordered pasta with seafood. Such a big mistake. You can imagine that there was a storm on our way there - we went by feet, we were super hungry and this pasta had literally 5 (five!) bites of pasta and 2 shrimps with a few mussels. Mussels were not cleaned well and also were not yummy. We decided to go for a starter with the wine left - some salami and whatever. The starter was again 3 types of salami(2 bytes each) one of them only oil. I know people have different tastes but this one felt bed even when looking at it. Ok, we asked for the bill and search for a store to buy some normal, tasty prosciutto. And then we had to pay 100 euro. Please, we were yet hungry! And it’s ok if we know that we’re going to some fancy, expensive restaurant, but the reviews are different. So at the end - May be it’s not our taste, may be something else, but we find it as a big mistake of ours and even laughing at the price we...
Read moreI went for a lunch with my (female and young, just like me fyi...) friend to this restaurant in May 2018. We had to leave, because a man, who seemed like someone who owns this place, had been telling us really rude things. First of all, when we came and sat down, he came over to ask if we were going to eat. I said yes. Then we ordered a bottle of water and then i ordered a meal (tagliatelle to be concrete) while my friend was still deciding what to order. His reply was mean. He started being loud saying things like that place is not McDonald's, how come we ordered just two things, if we think that it is enough blahblahblah... After his rude speech we decided to pay a few euros for the botttle of water and leave. (And we payed just because we were afraid he would attack us or something for not paying the sip of water we took) In our opinion his behaviour was way too impolite and absolutely not gentle. Even if we would have ordered just water he shouldn't behave like that, because we are the clients...not him. In reality we wanted to have a normal lunch with even some desserts and such things. I find it very inappropriate to choose guests like this. Just because we are young girls with no adult nor male around doesn't mean we are a target of rudeness. We felt uncomfortable and disappointed. He...
