We went to Velavevodetto a Milano on recommendation from some locals who said they said fantastic classic pasta. We were seated on their outdoor patio and served some complimentary bread.
[TRADITIONAL FIRST COURSE]
+Tonnarelli pasta with Pecorino cheese and black pepper for €15 - This is a classic cacio e pepe dish using tonnarelli versus spaghetti. It was cooked al dente which was firm to the bite, and the portion size was massive like American style. This was our first time having cacio e pepe in this traditional format, and I didn't enjoy it like I thought I would have. Tonnarelli is too thick for me, and with the al dente and large portion size, even two of us couldn't finish it. This may be great for Italians, but I personally am not a fan. This comes down to preference. - 3/5
[SECOND COURSE]
+Meatballs with sauce for €14 - This is a simple meatball and sauce dish which was very plain. Again, this comes down to preference, but it wasn't for me. - 3.5/5
[SIDE]
+Mixed Salad for €5 - This was raw vegetables and salad without any dressing. Nothing special. - 3/5
Overall, I thought Velavevodetto a Milano was okay. Apparently, this place is known by locals for having great pasta for Milan. Milan is more known for saffron risotto versus pasta and pizza. If you're not Italian, you can try this place out, but it may be a boring, unsatisfying meal for you. I personally wouldn't...
Read moreAVOID AVOID AVOID It was the worst place I've visited in Italy! We waited 35 minutes seated at the table until someone took the order. The menus had been left on a pile top of the table. Food was with too much salt, you could only taste salt and more salt. They started to clean up the table and asked us to leave, and I was sill eating (the pseudo place was still 40% of capacity), they didn't served us with entries or bread offering like they did at other tables. All the waiters where with unhappy faces and very rude when interacting with us (exception of one that was used later on by the manager as a translator for us?! I speak Italian ), when I was paying the manager was rude and self entitled to us (probably he thought I didn't speak Italian, his mistake), he was patronising me trying to explain the service charge, when all I asked was for the bread, others been offered but not us! In short: they took long to serve us, different ways of serving people !? , waiter never smiled and very rude, fast to clean the table while people still eating and on top of it , the manager was very rude, unpolite and treated us with disrespect, patronising me, as if he was doing me a favor.... never once established eye contact with me! It is very rare for me to give the lowest classification available, this was only the...
Read moreWe arrived there without reservation. We ordered antipasti, mail meals, coffee and wine for three. Service was below average, and all meals arrived at the same time. After less than 1h of table presence, we were brought the bill, although not yet asked, and were asked to leave the place, in order to free up the table! We settled the invoice for 130eur, and expressed our complains to the manager. He claimed not to understand any languages but Italian, and behaved beyond rudeness. For sure, we cannot recommend such a place, and if the owner of the place is interested in the delivered quality of service, we can only recommend a change...
