Vurria Pizzeria — Restaurant in Milan

Best Vegan Pizza I’ve ever had, and best pizza I’ve eaten in 20 years of suffering from lactose issues. I was starving, and tore through this generously sized pizza when it arrived at the table. I had the La Funghetto Veg, and I was worried when it arrived since it looked so good, like a “real” pizza. I asked several times whether it was really vegan cheese, and was reassured that it was Vegan. I waited 24 hours to write this review, and I am happy to report I didn’t have any lactose problems. I would know! I still can’t believe it was a vegan pizza, because I’ve had so many bad vegan pizzas in the past! If I had this at home I would eat there every week.

We landed in Milan really late and this was only place that still served “proper meal” around midnight nearby our hotel. Even it was almost their closing time the friendly waiter took us in without a bit of hesitation. Food wise they only serve pizza but the selection is pretty good. They were even nice enough to fix a tuna burrata salad that’s off the menu per our request. The pizzas we had here surprisingly turned out the best we had during the whole trip that covered the northern to southern part of Italy. The crust is incredibly thin, moist but not soggy at all. I went there for their vegan pizza. When I ordered it, they told me they were out of vegan mozzarella and said they could switch it for mozzarella di buffala, which would obviously turn it into a non-vegan pizza. It’s ok that they were out of one ingredient, but I am lactose intolerant and they offered no alternative whatsoever. I ended up eating a sad and dry dough with some random vegetables on top and paying 22€ for it and a beer. The staff was unprepared and rushed. They took ages to take our order and gave us 30 minutes to eat before asking us to leave because there was another reservation. That was some less-than-average service...
