During our recent visit to Modena, my partner and I had the pleasure of having lunch at La Quercia di Rosa. Without a reservation and despite the restaurant being fully booked, the staff kindly managed to set up a table for two – a gesture that set the tone for what turned out to be an extraordinary day.

We started with the fiori di zucca fritti senza pastella, which were light, crisp, and packed with flavor. For the main course, we shared a classic Bolognese and a rich funghi e Porcini pasta, both executed to perfection. To finish, we enjoyed a creamy pannacotta with fresh forest fruits and a smooth crema caramel – both desserts were a perfect end to the meal.

The food was among the best we've had in Italy, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The total bill, including drinks, came to €90 – more than reasonable for the quality and experience offered.

As a rather picky eater, I can confidently say La Quercia di Rosa exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic Italian cuisine in a charming and...

If you can find this place, you must go there. I was there twice, once around 2014, and once this summer, 2021. The memories of this place are equally great.

One of the few remaining places that make their own balsamic vinegar the old traditional way. They use local, seasonal ingredients. Their food is just spectacular. It is like coming to nonna’s house and having her cook for you. I mean, it is pretty incredible. Get their vinegar while you are there. It is spectacular.

2024 Update We have been coming here every year since 2021. Every time it is absolutely amazing. Every time the food is seasonal, delicious, and just amazing. We even brought our American family here and they were shocked how good and inexpensive (in comparison) the food was. Come visit. Book ahead. Buy their vinegar. Be a local 😊

Oh, and the owner just told us, that someone who posts negative reviews calls them and tells them they can change those in exchange for money. What a shame these people can do this...

The food is AMAZING!! Some of the very best we've had in Italy. We had outstanding mushroom agnolotti! The pasta was thin but had an amazing chew to it and it was stuffed with the most flavorful mushroom mixture that exploded with flavor. Next we had veal in a balsamic sauce with roasted potatoes and tiny courgettes. Delightful !! For dessert we had a crema with fresh blueberries and pomegranate seeds. It was so light and yet packed with flavor!! Too die for. Our waiter was a silvered-haired gentleman who could understand our Italian and had a great sense of humor. An older woman sat is at our table and was very impolite. She was impolite to us again when we were paying. I'm not sure what all that was about. Shrug All that being said, it was a wonderful dinner and we would love to go...

We visited in april and had a reservation for easter, which meant a fixed menu with several courses. There was a mixup with the reservation, but they quickly sorted it and we had a table ready for us. There were 6 or 7 courses for lunch and all were very tasty and well prepared. The tempo was a bit fast for the amount of food, but we managed :). Staff was friendly and courteous. There is lots of parking space available and the surrounding is nice with small lake, trees and geese and roosters/chickens roaming freely. Toilet is located in another building, so you need to exit the restaurant to your left.
