Sushi Tao — Restaurant in Modena

of all the dining reviews I have done in my life, this will be the weirdest because I have never eaten anything in Tao.

we parked our car at an open unmarked space next to this restaurant. an hour later when we returned, our rented car, with all our luggage in it, was gone. We went back to the cafe we had lunch at and asked them for help (eg. who to call, where to go, etc) and the staff refused to help us. to be fair, the lady manager (it seemed by her behavior) was upset with him and kept gesturing that we needed all the help they could provide but he kept shaking his head and asked me to leave.

Heading back to the spot, a staff from Tao came out and asked why do the 4 of us looked so lost and distraught...long story short: more staff from Tao came out; they called many places and finally located our car. They found out that we needed to pay at least €200 in cash as a penalty; they called a cab to come fetch us over to the workshop in which the traffic police were waiting for us.

We wanted pay the staff at Tao for their effort but they refused. We wanted to buy food to takeaway as a gesture of gratitude, but they said the kitchen was closed for an afternoon break (I somehow felt that it was not true. they just didn't wana to take advantage of us seeing that we were already in a bad situation).

With a workforce this compassionate, thoughtful, generous and earnest, I can only say the great reviews they have had accumulated must be 100% all true.

Thank u Tao for ending my memory of Modena as one that is full of kindness and love for others. I have friends and relatives heading Italy this year and I'm mapping a route for them to journey and it will include Modena and...

Da dove posso iniziare? Siamo venuti a mangiare in questo posto per la prima volta e appena siamo arrivati, ci hanno fatto aspettare in piedi davanti alla porta per molto tempo. Non sapevamo a chi chiedere, poiché tutti i camerieri erano vestiti in modo informale.

Una volta che ci hanno fatto accomodare vicino al bagno, dove c'era una discreta affluenza e un odore sgradevole, ci hanno lasciato lì senza spiegarci come funzionasse il servizio (torneremo su questo punto in seguito). Dopo un quarto d'ora di attesa, sono riuscito a chiedere un menù cartaceo, dato che i cellulari in quel punto non avevano una buona copertura. Hanno semplicemente appoggiato il menu sul tavolo e se ne sono andati di nuovo, senza darci tempo di chiedere nulla, lasciandoci nuovamente a noi stessi. A questo punto, visto che nessun cameriere veniva a prendere le nostre comande, abbiamo deciso di ordinare con i nostri cellulari, anche se è stato un compito difficile causa la ricezione. In poco tempo ci hanno portato i piatti. Il pesce crudo era accettabile, ma tutti i piatti a base di carne avevano un sapore rancido. Qui torniamo al punto precedente: arriva uno dei cuochi e ci rimprovera perché avevamo ordinato con due dispositivi separati. Tuttavia, dato che non ci avevano spiegato come avremmo dovuto ordinare, come avremmo potuto sapere che l'ordine andava effettuato su un unico dispositivo?

Alla fine della serata, dopo un pessimo servizio, un cibo non all'altezza delle aspettative e la compagnia della porta del bagno, ci siamo diretti alla cassa senza che ci fosse stato chiesto se volessimo un caffè o altro. Anche alla cassa abbiamo dovuto aspettare a lungo prima che qualcuno si facesse avanti. Alla fine è arrivata una signora che sembrava stesse facendo un favore a noi, senza chiedere nulla se non il numero del nostro tavolo. Ci ha consegnato il conto e, senza nemmeno salutare, è tornata via.

Penso che non torneremo mai più in questo posto, peccato per la location che è...

Così così... Ci siamo fidati delle 4 stelle di media... A parte l' All You Can Eat che All You Can Eat non è perchè composto da 5 pietanze a testa, il menu e il portale d'ordine web che bisogna obbligatoriamente utilizzare per ordinare al tavolo, non riporta il sovrapprezzo che si applica nei giorni festivi. Di 10 piatti ordinati con la persona con cui ho pranzato, solo 2 sono risultati sufficienti: buoni i ravioli di carne, gli udon col manzo (...ma non il manzo). Pollo alla salsa Teriyaki con retrogusto bruciacchiato, tempura mista con patate crude, sushi stopposo perchè probabilmente preparato un'oretta prima, bao e spiedino di calamaro molto salati, il manzo servitoci era stracotto e nient'altro che una bistecchina misera tagliata a striscioline. Per l'ultimo piatto (2 ravioli di verdure) abbiamo dovuto aspettare circa un'ora perchè era stato dimenticato, anche se, data l'insistenza a chiederci se mancasse qualcosa o fosse tutto arrivato e tutto a posto (passato lo stesso ragazzo 4 volte a chiedere la medesima cosa), abbiamo avuto l'impressione che fosse un modo per liberare il tavolo senza aver ricevuto tutto quello per cui avevamo aspettato e avremo pagato. Il personale è sembrato sicuramente cordiale, ma purtroppo per tutta la serie di cose elencate sopra non penso torneremo e sicuramente non...
