Cantina del Gallo — Restaurant in Naples

This place is Amazing! I was walking around Napoli for 3 hours. Walked north or the "tourist" are and got lost in the beauty of it all. I came across this place and decided to go in for a beer because I had been walking around 90 degree weather. Once inside I was greated with a warm Ciao and a smile. I sat down and they immediately asked me what I wanted to drink ( I think they say how hot and thirsty I was) I was amazed at how friendly everyone was including other customers. I decided to get the Diavola Pizza because it's usually the only one on places menus with any hint of spicyness and I love the Spice Life. The pizza came super fast and it's made right in front of you basically. I saw them make the pizza and I could tell this is a passion not just a job for them. The pizza was delicious and I ate the whole thing by myself which I don't normally do because it's usually too heavy. Not this pizza. It was thin and light on the stomach. The flavors where amazing and I will definitely be coming back to this hidden Gem. It's not dead in the center of town but it is definitely worth making the short walk to find this place. Highly recommend you visit this place anytime you are in Napoli and want authentic Napolitano pizza. Thanks again to all the staff for treating me like family 😊...

We came to your restaurant in 2015 and promised to write a review in social media. Its a bit late, but here it comes.

What I remember most after almost 3 years is the kind service you guys provided. Your hospitality was simply amazing. We came to you first on a friday evening if I remember right and your restaurant was packed. Lots of locals and tourists were waiting outside for a seat. In my opinions this is allways a good sign that there should be some good food. I dont mind waiting for a seat and that night we certainly did not regret it. We had some authentic napoli food for a very moderate price. Eventhough other people complain about service, I do not recall that at all. No matter how much there was to do, you still had a moment to chat with us and recommend us your best dishes. You even gave us a desert sample ... :)

We went twice to your restaurant, the second time just hours before we had to catch our plane and our second visit was even better then the first. You were not even open that sunday yet but you still gave us lots of good food.

You guys are a great example why we learned to enjoy people from south italy a lot. Thank you for the memories and the food ....

Best food, atmosphere and service in Naples!!!

It's where the locals eat - and they know best.

Our dinner at "Cantina del Gallo" was by far our best experience in Naples. They offer a variety of real authentic neapolitan dishes that are simply delicious and not pretentious at all.

Seafood, antipasti, secondi, everything freshly prepared with love, the result are 'honest' dishes that make you lick your plate.

The pizza: Incredibly good, typical but not heavy or yeasty, thin dough and nice crust, perfect balance of sauce, cheese and toppings. For comparison, we went to "Starita" a famous restaurant in the neighbourhood with a great reputation - we were very disappointed by the food and even more the rude service there.

The "Cantina del Gallo" is really worth to go for an unforgettable dinner, especially if you're staying in Materdei.

If I can give one advice: Please stay 100% as you are, don't change anything and we're always coming back...
