We have visited this restaurant twice now, the first on a Monday evening quite late (about 10pm) and we felt very positive about the service , the prices and the general treatment. We just had a simple late night meal of pizzas, salad, beer and wine and were given complementary liqueurs afterwards - all very reasonably priced.
Our second visit on a Saturday about 8pm was quite different. The restaurant had suddenly become a very expensive, and less enjoyable experience, I'm afraid to say. We were quite happy to pay a bit more for some sea food etc on this occasion but we were pushed into ordering too much food and with our limited Italian we didn't realise until too late just how much.
I actually asked the waiter to advise us if he thought we were ordering too much for 2 people but this didn't happen. A grilled fish dish appeared (cost €19) which we weren't expecting and I realise I'd nodded when the waiter mentioned it confusing this with the fried fish I'd actually ordered and so we didn't realise we had agreed to both. I think the waiter should have warned us that this would be too much fish!!!
Furthermore, the sea food pasta that was recommended came out as €12 each, way too much for the very mediocre dish we were served - a rather flavourless pasta with a few clams and what looked like fish intestines...
The bill came to €90 and the waiter made it clear that a tip was expected as he wouldn't leave us alone while we were searching for bank notes.
Altogether, my suggestion is avoid this place, except for pizzas midweek. Certainly don't go on a Saturday evening and don't be pushed into ordering anything without being certain of the cost beforehand and being totally clear with the waiter what you want. I feel that we were taken advantage of as we are not Italian speakers (though we do speak a bit), probably the assumption being that if you're foreign you are loaded.
This was a very disappointing return visit in which the guidance we'd requested was not...
Read moreGot scammed. Waited for over an hour for my primo (which was served to tables around me). Note that I was alone, not a big group. Well maybe they have the tiniest kitchen in the whole city? Anyway, after an hour (!), they brought me a different dish than i had ordered, which I denied (I cant stand vongole, sorry, also you had one hour). Note that this was not a matter of "lost in translation". The waiter knew very well he was bringing the wrong dish and tried to sell that other dish to me. Yet another 20 minutes passed until I finally received the first course I had actually ordered. Tasted good, but not 80 minutes good, that's for sure. Also very small (much smaller than their first "attempt"). Then my main fish dish arrived. Completely cold. At that point I had enough and left the table then and there. Despite me clearly stating that I was not going to pay for the cold ugly excuse of a fish, I ended up doing just so. 38€ for a bottle of water and a small plate of linguine. Lol sure. But being completely tired and spent after a long day, hungry and not exactly fluent in italian, I didnt feel like arguing with the overexcited four man neapolitanian crew (one of which was already drunk by then). //// That being said, some locals were eating pizza which was served promptly and looked rather nice. I suppose they just prank and scam foreigners and/or people who do not speak italian or who order dishes other than pizza. I for one wont be coming back for the pizza. I left "la casa tua" after two hours with a half empty stomach and 38€ poorer. There is your nice welcome to Napoli....
Read moreWe decided to go here, despite the negative reviews. But inside, we felt like the waiter did not even want to speak english rather than understanding basic words like "big. Small, no fish/sea". All though in a city like Napoli, in 2022, not being able to communicate basic words in an international language is amazing, we ended up pointing our fingers at what we want, from the menu. That cant be that hard, right? Well, or order took longer than 1h. Everyone else got their food, even the table with 6 people, but our 4 pieces of bread with tomatoes took 1h. After that, we got half of the order, and the other half was wrong. We stated that it was not what we ordered, so it was taken away not even asking why. We waited longer, and decided to ask where is our food Then the waiter started explaining to us like we were native in italian, switching to google translate, but at the end not being able to explain why we did not receive the food we pointed our fingers at, on the menu. We decided to just leave and pay for the beers and bruschete we had. And they still charged us 4 euros for "servicio". I strongly recommend not going here, because of the rude and unprofessional service. They didnt even take the right orders and brought us something totally random, and expected us...
