First pizza in Naples This trip to Naples that day was specifically dedicated toward having my first Napoletano pizza. Everyone in the country says that Naples has the best pizza, and while it was good - it was, at least to me, nothing to write home about. I won't say that it wasn't good in its own right, very flavorful and very good dough - but it was again, nothing that made me jump for joy or at least out of my seat.
The prices seemed fair (average pizza as I recall was around 8 Euro or so), and there was ample amounts to choose from in terms of variety. I had pizza lasagna - mostly just because the name intrigued me. It was nothing at all like lasagna. With tomato sauce, cheese and ham, it resembled neither in form nor in taste to lasagna. I guess it's just a name.
The staff was not friendly, and I would encourage them to learn how to smile at their guests. My acquaintance told me it's because we were in Naples: I don't think that's a reasonable excuse.
The restaurant was freezing...and I don't think they had the heat on, on a terribly chilly day in January no less.
All things being equal it's not a bad place, and I certainly didn't dislike the pizza. I'd recommend it as it's the only place I've ever eaten in Naples and wouldn't discourage people from going, but just be prepared that the staff isn't outgoing, and the pizza isn't as good as you might be...

Probably, like many people who don't want to queue for the famous Michele's pizzeria just in front of the Trianon, I ended up here thinking that the quality would have been similar, after all we're in the heart of Naples, pizza should be fine everywhere. No deception could have been bigger: the thing in the picture is nothing like a proper Neapolitan pizza should be! Do you see the fluffy cornicione? (The soft and doughy 1-inch thick outer crust) Neither do I. The thin dough in the middle? I haven't found it, it was thick and rubbery, with watery tomato sauce and flavourless mozzarella.
TBH, I wouldn't have moaned if it was served elsewhere in the world (I'm Neapolitan living in France), but serving this kind of pizza in Naples should be...
Read moreHonestly the best pizza we have had in Naples and all of Italy for that matter. The place was recommended to us by a local, and we are glad we skipped the long queues on Da Michele on the opposite side of the street and instead just dropped in here. Their Marinara pizza is an absolute classic, but our all time favorite has to be the Margherita pizza with Buffala mozzarella, which is the best pizza you would ever eat. We kept coming back here to try their other pizzas every day, including salami and diavolo but the Buffala pizza remained our absolute favorite. The place is no frills and really has a local feel, but you totally get your money's worth and satiate all your taste buds for the amazing pizzas. Service is also prompt. Absolutely unmissable...
