One of those very rare true 5* experiences. You know how people constantly overuse the statement "they make you feel like home?" Well guess what? They make you feel like home! When you're sitting in a restaurant in Italy and you're the only one not speaking Italian, you know you found something special. The staff is incredibly friendly and rightfully proud of their dishes and local cuisine. The place is hectic, but in the best way possible. When in town, you obviously have to have the mother of all pizza, the original Napoli Margherita Pizza. Lombardi has been making them since 1892, and they know their pizza game. Sublime! But Lombardi (and Napoli for that matter) is also very famous for their seafood. The very classic Linguine Alle Vongole (Linguine with clams) is a must try. Seafood this fresh and tasty is a treat not to be missed. If you want some more seafood variety, you cannot go wrong with the Spaghetti Lombardi, which comes with a vast selection of seafood. Honestly I think that most dishes on the menu will be outstanding. We will definitely be back to try as many other dishes as we can, if we can resist ordering the classics. Last but not least, the staff is as outstanding as the food. Very friendly and relaxed, always happy to recommend your next culinary discovery.

A true classic Neapolitan pizzeria full of character. Definitely was very popular, though I found the pizzas didn't have high quality ingredients. The pistachio flavor didn't really stick out and sausage was a bit tough. Margherita with ham was better but the tomato sauce didn't have too much flavor. Crust on both pizzas definitely fit the Neapolitan style - chewy and charred. The pizzas at other tables looked better, so perhaps we didn't make the right choices on the extensive menu featuring pasta and seafood choices. Salad was a bit underwhelming, hiding iceberg lettuce under arugula. Service was slow and communicating in English was a challenge unlike most of Naples. Luckily pizza comes out quickly so it didn't matter much. It got pretty crowded and boisterous by 8:30pm at the outdoor tables, so it felt like an authentic Naples dinner. Loved the character and charm of the interior, with dozens of photos from the restaurant's long history. I had better pizza in Naples, but Lombardi is worth a stop if you're nearby.

Very good food across the board with a few small gripes: risotto was very nice but a bit bland, so was my tomato sauce spaghetti (tasty but I had to add parmesan to give it a bit of an edge, and it seemed slightly undercooked to my taste). The pizze were good. Last but not least: they seemed to have revisited the tiramisu and made it in the shape of a cake (check the picture). they is so unusual we had to ask twice, and i believe it was a mistake not to tell us in advance (i would not have ordered it had i known, bsedies it was too sweet). Unfortunately, they also overcharged us on a dish, which mistake we caught and they changed it back. I doubt this was intentional but that leaves a sour taste before leaving. About the staff: they were friendly but a bit overwhelming sometimes and the boss at the cashier did not say a word when we paid, he did not even look at us.... Overall, it is a low 4 (3.5 stars). Maybe we will be back to revisit, maybe.

Out of our 7 years in Naples, this was the absolute worst place at which we ate. After repeated recommendations from an acquaintance, we finally went here only to be disappointed beyond belief. The food wasn't bad, but was soured by the incredibly rude service we received.

Our waiter had a surly and dismissive attitude from the start. We should have just left, but we thought the food might make up for the service. We've tolerated bad service many times before--everyone has a bad day.

This service went way beyond bad. We recognized during ordering that the waiter's inattention wasn't just the result of his personal issues that day. It was a very deliberate and blatant snub against us. He served others with bread and drinks while ignoring us. We had to repeatedly summon him for a menu, to take our order, to bring us bread, etc. To make this worse, he almost hurled our plates onto the table and then avoided our table and eye contact. "Posso avere il conto, testa di ca**o." is what we felt like saying, but we kept it polite...signore...even though he definitely didn't deserve it.

We don't cry foul for honest mistakes, but this was anything but honest. This guy obviously had a problem with us. What it was...who the hell knows. And who cares. There are literally hundreds of great places to eat. Less pretentious, better food and service, and reasonably priced.

I'm sure few have had such an experience and this guy may be gone (hoping) by now. Nonetheless, we can't recommend Lombardi 1892 for anything unless you need to use the bagno. Otherwise, avoid this...

I came here after reading the phenomenal reviews on Google. It was 3PM and the establishment closes at 4PM. I am visiting Naples and unfortunately cannot speak Italian.

The owner (I suppose) - a big man - sitting at the cash register was processing orders. I greeted with “Ciao” and he gave me a weird look. I do not speak Italian however, I pulled up Google translate to use, as I wanted to be respectful of the language. This must have made the owner (at the cash register) upset or mad. He began talking slick remarks to another man, who did not engage in the nasty banter. This 2nd man and another man actually tried to diffuse the situation. The 3rd man (who I appreciate!) requested that I talk to him about what I wanted. As I was typing in “is it open seating”, the 1st man at the register continued talking about me in Italian, trying to engage the 2nd man to talk about me as well. All of this is going on while the third man continued to help me. After the second time I heard the cashier/owner talking about me, I left.

I will NEVER RETURN nor will I EVER encourage ANYONE that is NOT Italian or speaks the Italian language to enter if the same man is at the front.

I was so excited to try authentic Napoli cuisine, especially at a place with such high reviews. I personally want to say THANK YOU to the man who attempted to assist me and did not make me feel “less than” for using a translator. I can’t imagine how the owner/cashier has made others feel. Treat people with kindness from now on, it...

I was in Napoli for 6 nights, in which I had 6 dinners. And unfortunately, this was the only negative experience I had in this town. Google Maps said place opens at 7:15PM for dinner service. So when I approached the entrance at 7:10, thinking maybe they would be ready, I was rudely told 7:30 open time. Ok, I’ll look around. Then at 7:15 I see people being seated. I should have taken it as a sign then to walk away and not give this place my business, but I was hungry and was willing to give it a chance. My mistake. Placed a simple order of 1 mixed greens salad, a marinara pie, a margarita pie and a bottle of natural water. Then I proceeded to watch multiple tables around me getting seated after I placed my order, and their food coming before mine! Also, I had to ask for another empty glass for my water because my glass was not properly cleaned and rinsed. My water tasted soapy. When I asked for a new glass, the staff person looked at me like I was asking for the impossible! On top of that, the same staff person (he wasn’t a waiter, nor a busboy) was pacing back and forth behind my table like I was being watched by security in a grocery store. This made me feel uncomfortable my entire meal. Not cool at all. Service gets ZERO stars, and the pizza was definitely the worst I had of the 4 pies I ate in Napoli over these last 6 days. Don’t waste your money on this tourist trap of...
