Mammamì Neapolitan Food & TakeAway — Restaurant in Naples

This restaurant visit was the biggest disappointment of our Italy trip. We were attracted by the good reviews but we couldn´t recognize the experiences other users had. First, it was difficult to make a choice since the menu was only available online but the software tried to make translations to the native phone language that were ridiculously wrong. Then, three out of our choices were sold out. When we finally received the food it was not what we had expected. The pasta, instead of being served in a bread loaf (as explicitly asked) was on a paper plate, the burgers were served without a bun (though listed on the menu) and the Ziti Alla Sicliana hadn´t seen any eggplant from a distance. When it came to payment, the potatoes and tomatoes of the "Bistecca Con Patate" were suddenly side orders that appeared extra. Even though the prices on the menu appear reasonable, servings are small and the bill quickly adds up. In all of this the poor waiter was totally left alone by the owner on what appeared to be his first day. The remaining star is for the fact that the served food actually tasted okay, though...

I came here for breakfast on Saturday. It was 10am and the kitchen still wasn't open but they asked me if I could wait 10 - 15min for the kitchen to open and they will serve me my order. I was ok with that and sat outside to chill. It was very pleasant, sunny day although chilly in front of the restaurant. I ordered meatballs and fries with sparkling water and all was around 12 eur.

The food was ok but nothing special. It was my first time trying meatballs in Italy and at first I was a bit taken back by the unusual and unexpected taste. I've eaten meatballs before but none tasted like this. I would describe them as acquired taste more than good on the first bite. All in all I'm interested in trying out their other food to make a better judgment but for now the food didn't leave...

We were very disappointed by our visit to this restaurant, and we wish we had not relied on the online reviews. The online “menu” English version was poorly translated and lacked any description, so we had to order based on the pictures we found on Google. To make matters worse, the staff brought us dishes that we did not order and charged us for them later, claiming that they were their recommendations. The food was mediocre, nothing special, and everything was served on paper plates, making us feel like we were in a fast-food joint.
