It was quite a unique experience, to be honest. I have never experienced such a unique way of service. First of all, when I arrived, there were not many people eating, which I should've noticed it's a warning about what's gonna happen. I have waited for a significantly long time where there is absolutely no one leading you to the table, and apparently, they set up a table when you are here, which means that no preparation are made before hand while I just saw few of the waiter is just standing and talking and smoking . And did I mention that everybody that came is sitting outside while the most of the time lights are out, so you have to hold your phone, bring a candle, or eat in the dark like a barbarian. Finally, when I finally sat down, I had to wait 20 minutes for someone to bring me a menu, during that, i have try to call for a waiter to hand me a menu, which noone showed up, and I try to do weird stuff to get attention, like blowing whistle, stare at them in the eyes for a very long time, try to play music with fork, spoon, knife and cup and pretending to sleep and ended up actually fell asleep. I have actually timed it as soon as I sat down cuz I know this is going to take forever because everyone at the restaurant seems is doing something while in reality, they are doing absolutely nothing at all. And I'm just getting started. Finally as I place my order, a pasta with clam and a seafood plater, with a large beer, I thought that maybe it's gonna be amazing food, cuz I have had some of the most delicious dish in the past few days of my travelling in Italy. Then, they present a dish, which I thought was a leftover of someone's dinner. The pasta was so salty that it made the international salt price go up. For the clam, well, I just have to say that they were dead for absolutely nothing. As I finished the dish, I was waiting for my seafood plater, which is the main reason I came here to eat. Therefore, I waited and waited until the time had no meaning, and the eternal had passed, and I still didn't get my food. I asked the same waiter about my food, who took the order. And he said that it was sold out. When he said that, if it isn't because I am an educated and civilized man, this place will not exist after tonight. So to finish the dinner, cuz I'm still very huger, I ordered the watermelon on the menu, and I saw a group of people who sit next to me and had a large plate of sliced watermelon,at least a quarterof a watermelon, so I think it's gonna be a nice and refreshing dessert to finish this horrible night. But no, they give me TWO slice, for 2 euros. If they had given me one more slice, I would not be writing this as I was eating a kebab sandwich, which is way cheaper and better tasting than whatever you had on the menu. You have shamed the city, Napoli, and you have shamed the country, Italy. The reason I give a one-star is that this is the lowest score, not what you really are. I am going to learn to become a hacker and hack into Google Maps and change the rating system just to give you a negative star. For anyone who is seeing this, DON'T COME HERE, DON'T COME HERE, DON'T COME HERE, RUNAWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN, and for those who is unfortunately came...
Read moreWe sought out this restaurant looking for calamari and the menu seemed fairly reasonable pricing wise. Upon arrival, several restaurant staff chaotically waved us into the restaurant, where we were sat right next the service counter. A very erratic man (who was a waiter but not ours) greeted us with overly enthusiastic handshakes and then went off whistling. We waited several minutes for menus, and upon ordering, were told that we couldn’t order one of the things on the menu (linguini con scampi) but the reason was not clear as very little English was spoke so we ordered a buffalo pizza instead, along with spaghetti with mussels and calamari. The wait was not bad, but the atmosphere was terrible. Due to our position next to the kitchen window, staff were constantly shouting over our table and getting right up on us, so close they were touching us. They were yelling across the restaurant, and everyone else inside the place seemed to be related in some way, so they didn’t seem to care about their noise level. The one man who greeted us was constantly whistling and bouncing around, and seemed like he was on something. When the calamari arrived, we immediately knew it was not going to be good. It was very pale, and upon tasting, was very rubbery with a extremely fishy taste. The mussel spaghetti was next to arrive, and while the presentation appeared nice, upon tasting, the spaghetti was undercooked and incredibly fishy, and the mussels even seemed a little dirty. To their credit, there was a good amount of mussels mixed into the meal. The last straw was the pizza. We ordered a buffalo pizza, and right before being delivered to our table, we saw them bring in a stack of pizzas in boxes from another restaurant and transfer it to a plate. The service along with the atmosphere and food quality was so bad we didn’t even finish the meal, just paid and left to find better food somewhere else. I would not...
Read moreWe came without a reservation and got a seat. The waiter insisted on letting us sit under the plastic pavilion, but we wanted a table inside. And it paid off because the atmosphere is very lovely and we wanted to experience the typical Italian flair. An senior gentleman was opening mussels (probably 40 kg) and we saw the cooking going on. The staff were authentic. We had a small bottle of house wine and mineral to drink. For appetizers we had octopus (Polpo all insalata in barchette) with olives and tomatoes and melanzani with olives. Both were very delicious, the olives were a little too salty for our taste. For the first course I had ordered linguine con scampi, but I think I got spaghetti ai frutti di mare. It was still superb, and the sauce was very delicious. I even got extra bread at the end for the last of the sauce (“scarpetta”). Delicious. The second dish was frutti di gamberi e calamari, also excellent. Unfortunately, the courses came a little too quickly one after the other, so we had a lot of plates at the table. So far the best meal in Naples, highly recommended, if only because of the authentic...
