This restaurant came highly recommended by an Italian friend when I mentioned I was visiting Naples, so I arrived with high expectations. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing due to the terrible service.
My girlfriend and I visited during our stay in Naples. After adding our names to the waiting list, we stood outside for about 15 minutes. Once we were finally allowed inside, things quickly deteriorated. The waiter simply informed us that our table was ready but made no effort to show us to it—we had to find it ourselves.
It took about 5–10 minutes to receive the menu. While I was still deciding on my main course, I ordered an appetizer. The waiter gave me a strange, almost disapproving look when I said I needed a few more minutes to choose the rest, which made us quite uncomfortable.
When I was ready to order, I requested a specific bottle of wine from the older waiter. A different waiter brought a bottle that wasn’t the one I had selected and began to open it. When I pointed this out, the original waiter returned and casually claimed it was “the same wine, just a different label”—but failed to explain this earlier or offer any clarification.
The food itself was good, though not exceptional—certainly not at the level I had anticipated based on the recommendation.
After we finished eating, our empty plates remained on the table for more than 15 minutes, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Several staff members clearly noticed, yet no one cleared our table until I had to ask—at which point the response was curt and unwelcoming.
Getting the check was equally frustrating. I asked for it twice from the same waiter, with no result. After waiting over 25 minutes in total, I went directly to the cashier where the owner and (presumably) his son were present. They printed the bill—but the wine listed was neither the one I ordered nor the one we were served, and it was 2–4 euros more expensive.
When I brought this up, the son called the waiter, who casually dismissed the issue, saying, “It’s just 2 euros,” and even made a sarcastic remark in Italian—“disculpe señor”—which came across as mocking rather than apologetic.
I honestly don’t know if the poor attitude was because we were foreigners or due to something else, but we were respectful and polite from the beginning. It’s a real shame because I had been looking forward to this meal for weeks. The disappointing service overshadowed the food entirely—we didn’t even feel like ordering...

We booked in advance as recommended by the restaurant. Upon arriving, the only word that best describes the queueing is carnage. No one was at the front to separate the timed bookings from those who wanted to walk in, causing to massive pile up at the door that leaked out onto the path then road and even the other side of the street. We eventually navigated our way through the crowd to be seated. The place was clean, nicely decorated and pleasantly quiet. We ordered a bottle of wine to start, this was fine, the bread and olive oil was free flowing and being topped up when needed no problems at all. we then ordered our food and thus is when the meal took a nose dive. Four of the dishes came and were delicious, and honestly the food is really, very good. But then the best part of an hour went by before the final two dishes came. We would inquire where abouts they were. The more time went by the more uncomfortable it got not only for us but for the waiter who was running out of excuses to tell us where the meals were. When they arrived they too were delicious and faultless. We felt that this was a bit too long to wait for food and suggested a slight reduction in the bill. And I can tell you now, they do not like this one bit! An absolute zero tolerance on changing the price. We weren't too fussed about the bill but the way that reacted was so poor we weren't best pleased. They offered free shots of limoncello, which was kind but we didn't want that, then offered a desert but the atmosphere was so sour from them by this point, we just wanted to pay the bill and leave. The "manager" then came over and tried to explain that they don't offer reductions on the price but reasoned to him that if they were to offer free deserts surely they can add up the cost of those and take that off. He then paused and sulked away. Eventually coming back with the bill that did in the end get reduced. We quickly walked out being made to feel so guilty, but just before we could make it to the door, something weird just had to happen, One of the waiters started to get worked up because of us, with one of the others having to calm him down. A truly bizarre experience. In conclusion, we've eaten at a few places in Italy including Naples, and this had got to be the worst. Just don't bother but then again the food...
Read moreThis is the first review I've ever written. I don't usually bother leaving reviews (good or bad), but our experience at Mimi was so shockingly bad that I am making an exception. We came here because we were nearby and I recognised the name of the restaurant from a recommendation on reddit. The vibe seemed nice, the place was full and there was a queue outside so it looked popular. Our starter (eggplant parmigiana) was delicious. These were the only positive aspects though. The service was horrible, staff were impatient and rude. There was a long wait between main dishes being served and plates were shoved on the table in front of the wrong person with sometimes no words being said at all. The portions were very small, which could be expected at a 'fancy' restaurant, however the food was also not good and it was obvious that the table next to us had much larger portions of pasta (possibly locals getting better treatment? Who knows). The linguine dish was bitter (which admittedly could be a matter of personal taste), and one of the other pasta dishes was severely undercooked (raw on the inside as opposed to our other dishes which were al dente). The othwr meals were nothing special and any meat dishes were very stingy on the meat. The undercooked meal was taken away on request, but instead of making the dish from scratch, it was microwaved and returned to us a few minutes later (still very undercooked and tasting even worse due to being microwaved). We were still charged for this meal even though we raised the issue again. We were also overcharged for service charge (26€ instead of 18) and when we raised this, the waiter snatched the bill away and left without a word. No apology was made and the new bill had the service charge rounded up. Clearly some dishonest practices going on here as the waiter did not even question our complaint. We did not hear a sorry, thank you or even a goodbye from the staff all night. I guess they don't need to put in any effort cause 15% service charge is included. These are just a few snapshots from our experience, which was absolutely...
