At both lunch and dinner, the staff tried to push us into ordering appetizers. We tried them at lunch and didn’t enjoy them, so at dinner we just ordered two pizzas. We asked if they could cut the pizzas, and they agreed. Instead of bringing them on plates, they served them on wooden cutting boards.
When the bill came, I noticed that the pizzas were each €2.50 more than the menu price. A Margherita that should have been €7.00 was listed at €9.50, and the same surcharge was added to the other pizza. When I asked about it, they explained, quite rudely, that it was because we had asked them to cut the pizzas!!
This is not how you build loyalty. For the sake of €5, you've lost returning customers. We had already come back a second time that day, and we might have recommended the place to friends. Instead, we walked away feeling cheated.
If you go, check your bill carefully. And also ask whether basic 'services' will cost as much as a...
Read moreMy partner and I spent our last night trying our first pizza and we chose this place. We're really glad we did. We had a very friendly waiter who made some suggestions for us. We had a small selection of fried bits all of which were not oily in the slightest; stuffed (ricotta) courgette flower which had the lightest tempura like batter; a potato croquette which was wonderful cheesy, and a ball of pasta Genovese that had been fried. All really good. I ordered the pizza Margherita and my partner had one with prosciutto, artichoke and olives. It was one of the best, if not the best pizza I've had. The dough was perfect. Some dough I've had in the past can be too chewy, this wasn't. Light and lovely. My partner pizza made me have to take a minute to compose myself it was that good. Drinks were reasonable prices too. Glass of wine, a glass of beer and two Meloncello came to £42. Compliments to the chef and all who work...

The Margherita pizza, a staple of Naples, did not disappoint. It arrived piping hot, with a perfect balance of crispy, wood-fired crust and tender, flavorful toppings. The simplicity of the dish only enhanced its deliciousness.
A standout recommendation from the server was the stuffed Zucchini Flowers, delicately battered and filled with creamy ricotta cheese—an absolute must-try.
Overall, San Gennaro Pizzeria impresses with its positive atmosphere and attention to detail, making it a highly recommended dining...
