Cafè Matteotti — Restaurant in Olbia

Sunday 9 October 2022 to Sunday 16 October 2022 Drinks on Monday 10 October 2022 Fantastic location in a piazza (off a main thoroughfare and near to the best restaurants in the old town area) with a carousel in it! We enjoyed two glasses of lovely white wine (Vermentino) at €4 each, two glasses of excellent local red wine (Monica di Pala) at €4 each and two medium bottles of water at €2 each over more than an hour and a quarter. (Pity about the young man next to us who talked about himself and all the languages he spoke to some poor young woman, who was probably texting her friends for help on a regular basis! Young men, please note that young women might NOT be particularly interested in all your "fascinating" and "varied" accomplishments. We almost had to leave it was so unrelenting. On and on and on, etc.) The total bill was only €20 so we will be back tomorrow! Today (Thursday) we asked the waitress who served us each evening what her name was. She is called Ionela and is originally from Romania. That night there was what looked like a hen night in the piazza (a group of young women in hats and masks blowing air horns for quite a long time.) The guests at the café all found it very amusing when Ionela threatened them (maybe jokingly) with a real bucket of water if they didn't shut up! They left a few minutes later. We ended up going back twice every day until we flew home on Sunday 16 October 2022. Typically we had bottles of water at €2 each and double espressos at €3 each in the late mornings and bottles of water at €2 each and glasses of wine at €4 each in the early evenings. The service at this place was terrible. I sat outside and ordered two coffees, but after 15 minutes of waiting while other tables around us received their orders, I had to go inside to ask again. The waitress assured us that our order was coming, but then completely ignored us, continuing to serve every other table around. We ended up waiting a total of 45 minutes without ever receiving our coffees, so we left. I do not recommend this place at all due to the...

Had a quick breakfast with some toasted sandwiches, cappuccino and pistachio croissants, all good. Place was open at 08:00 (or earlier) others were still closed and were opening at 09:00, while the one next to our airbnb was opening at 10:00. Service was good, the lady serving us very friendly and constantly smiling. Paid 27€ for the toasts, coffees and croissants...
