Osteria Fresco — Restaurant in Olbia

As visitors from England, we were excited to try the highly recommended food in San Pantaleo, and we must say, the cuisine did not disappoint. The food at this establishment is truly some of the best in the area! However, our dining experience was severely marred by the questionable service we received.

We ordered a bottle of wine and four glasses for our table. The waiter came, poured our glasses, and then inexplicably took the bottle away. We assumed he would return to top us up throughout our meal, but when we asked for refills, he informed us that he had given our wine to another table.

The situation worsened when the bill arrived. We were shocked to see that we had been double-charged and billed per glass rather than for the bottle, which we had clearly ordered. When we raised our concerns with the waiter, they became very defensive. Instead of addressing our complaint, they made us feel stupid and insinuated that it was our mistake, despite our clear request for one bottle and four glasses for the table.

This defensive attitude made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, and we wanted to leave immediately. Our experience left a sour taste in our mouths, overshadowing the fantastic food. We felt disrespected and cheated. While the food is undeniably excellent, the poor service and dishonest billing practices are unacceptable. We would advise potential diners, especially fellow visitors from abroad, to be cautious if considering a meal here. The risk of being overcharged and poorly treated is not worth it.

Finding a decent lunch option in Porto Cervo on a Sunday afternoon was proving tricky (especially on the wallet!). Luckily, The Fork app came to the rescue! We booked a table at this great spot only 20 minutes drive, and it turned out to be a fantastic find.

The restaurant itself has a relaxed vibe, with friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home. The food was the real star though - fresh, delicious and beautifully presented, with generous portions that left us feeling very satisfied.

We particularly enjoyed the augerbine starter, the perfectly cooked salmon, and the flavorful pasta with clams. Fresh bread and a lovely glass of local Vermentino wine rounded out the meal perfectly. Orange and chocolate melting core desert was absolutely sublime as well!

I visited this place in a busy tourist area, expecting at least some level of professionalism. I ordered a salad, which didn’t match the menu description — it included onion and cucumber, two ingredients I can’t eat. The waiter offered to remake it, and they brought a new version without those items, but even then it was a letdown. The second salad was full of wilted leaves and bad fennel. I was hungry and tired of waiting, so I just ate it, unhappy and disappointed. Despite everything, they still charged me, offering just a small discount, which hardly makes up for the experience.
