L'ora di mezzo — Restaurant in Otranto

Service: was ok. There were lots of waiters around but still service was slow. I found a piece of steel string in my pasta and the waitress just took the actual string then the other waiter came back said we will remake it for you (even though I had eaten half of the pasta) when I suggested no, he got angry and just walked away. No apology nothing offered to compensate (thankfully they didn’t charge me though). No one came to top up our wine glass and no suggestions or recommendations for food or wine. We had to ask for the bill several times.

The bill had the daily fish charged at 40 euro (6 euro per 100 gram) when I asked the calculation for the 40 euro on the bill, the waiter couldn’t explain the cost or how much the Seabass weighed to equal to 40 euro. I have never been to any place where the Seabass costs 40 euro) even a Michelin restaurant. I believe they over charged us to compensate for the pasta dish that had the steel string in it.

The food was extremely average. My pasta was tasteless. My boyfriends pasta had little to no sauce abd smelly fish. The seabass was ok, it was a bit smelly so not fresh and extremely overpriced (to a scamming level) the sides were awful; the grilled vegetables were dry and sparse and the food came out far too quick and too hot like it had been microwaved.

The atmosphere was lacking. No music no table cloth or napkins on the table poor lighting and a lot of shouting coming other tables that seemed like the friends and families of the staff (not eating but only drinking)

We had dinner on the terrace, and even though it was a bit chilly, the restaurant had patio heaters set up, which kept us cozy and made the whole experience really pleasant. The atmosphere was charming and perfect for a relaxed evening.

The service was excellent—friendly, quick, and efficient. Our food arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, which was a nice surprise.

The dishes themselves were lovely: fresh pasta, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. You can really tell the quality is there. However, portions are on the smaller side, so if you’re really hungry, you might leave wanting a bit more.

Qualche giorno fa ero ad Otranto per una toccata e fuga durante alcuni giorni di vacanza passati a Lecce. Aggirandomi un po' a caso per il piccolo borgo, non riuscivo francamente a scorgere interessanti opzioni per il pranzo. Alla fine ho scelto questo ristorante dato che l'ambiente sembrava elegante e poi proponeva nel menu anche qualche opzione di terra (i pesci per quanto mi riguarda possono rimanere a nuotare in mare o, al limite, andare ad abbellire qualche acquario).

Devo ammettere di aver dovuto vincere un po' il pregiudizio di averlo visto vuoto ma ho pensato subito che, molto probabilmente, ciò era dovuto al fatto che, purtroppo, all'ora di pranzo il loro dehors é penalizzato da un sole che batte a picco ed effettivamente si patisce abbastanza il caldo (lo dico con spirito costruttivo perché questo aspetto non continui a penalizzare in futuro e si possa trovare una soluzione).

La cortesia e la professionalità del cameriere, nonché la qualità di quanto mangiato e bevuto, mi hanno dato l'impressione che questo deve essere un ristorante che la sera a cena fa furore mentre di giorno assume un connotato più sornione ma comunque in grado di rispondere positivamente a chi voglia provarlo anche per pranzo, all'ora di mezzo,...
