La Polperia Fish Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in Otranto

We came across this restaurant yesterday on our first day of visit to Otranto. When we sat down there were about 10 customers at the outdoor seating area and most if not all of them were served with drinks and food. It did not look very busy. We caught the eye of a waiter who understood that we were ready to order. He indicated that someone would come take our order. There was only one person in charge of taking order. He saw us but did not come to our table for a while. So I walked into the restaurant counter and politely informed them we were ready to order. I also ordered some dessert while there as it was not on the menu. We waited for another 10 to 15 min and indicated to another waiter that we are ready to place our order. The person taking order still did not come to our table and instead served other customers that arrived later than us while completely ignoring us. The dessert we ordered also never arrived. We felt that they did not appreciate our presence so we decided to inform the person taking order that we wanted to cancel the dessert and leave. He said fine and waved at me rudely suggesting that we just leave. I was frustrated and told him that the service was unacceptable as I walked out of the restaurant. He then immediately walked towards me with menace and I could sense that he was about to hit me. I was scared and walked away. He continued to chase me down the street while shouting at us to leave. The whole experience was absolutely shocking. We could not believe that this person taking order was about to physically attack us for simply saying that the service was not acceptable. This is the scariest restaurant experience we ever had and we considered calling the police afterwards. We would not recommend anyone visiting this place simply for the fact that the person taking order was prepared to physically...

Looks nice when passing by. However food is expensive compared to similar places. Moreover, the food that we ordered was not of high quality. So, value for money is low.

Furthermore, since plates, bowls and cutlery are from very lightweight disposable materials (plastic etc), they tend to fly away with the often present sea wind on this square. It's just very impractical. Last but not least these disposables just create a lot of unnecessary waste.

Se potessi darei 0,ESPERIENZA PESSIMA. Personale scortese è dire poco…dopo aver portato 4 panini su 5 lasciando una persona ad aspettare un quarto d’ora per lo stesso panino al polpo, si accorgono di aver dato il panino sbagliato e anziché rifarlo il cameriere mi chiede di poterlo scambiare con una delle mie amiche che, nell’attesa, aveva giustamente già mangiato metà panino. A quel punto chiedo gentilmente di portarmi QUELLO CHE AVEVO ORDINATO, e il ragazzo mi risponde che non sa se la cucina può rifare un panino( ERANO LE 12.15 e DOPO SONO USCITI ALTRI PANINI DI ALTRI TAVOLI). A quel punto mando indietro il mio panino e anziché rifarmelo, toglie degli ingredienti e li sostituisce con altro,ripresentandosi dopo un secondo con lo stesso panino “ modificato”( ovviamente degli ingredienti erano comunque rimasti) Lo faccio presente al cameriere ma mi risponde che il panino è stato fatto da capo, IN UN MINUTO NON SO COME POSSA ESSERE POSSIBILE, e quando gli dico della presenza degli ingredienti del panino precedente dice che non è vero… negandomi l’evidenza. Oltre al sevizio pessimo, la qualità non rispecchia assolutamente il prezzo così alto.
