Shanghai — Restaurant in Pavia

Feb 2, 2024 - Ordered for the following Involtini prima vera - crisp and bigger than some other counterparts in pavia. Stuffed well and can be eaten with the salsa provided as a compliment ( containing tomato, pepper, chilli flakes, oil etc. )

Riso con verdure miste - rice texture was sticky , subtly sense of salt that one won't feel easily but its presence can be felt carefully analysed. In verdure ( vegetables ) there were carrot cut in julienne, zucchini , Enoki mushrooms , corn, scrambled eggs etc.

Amazing to have. One might feel an lack of salt depending on the culture one comes from or follows. But in general the recipe itself includes very little salt to it.

Tofu con salsa piccante - amazingly soft tofu that melts even before chewing - comes with onions , green/yellow peperoni, Gravy at the bottom that was mildly hot in taste - as it has a warm touch on the tongue and a slight burning sensation on throat which is good to have in winters - mostly due to the inclusion of peppers.

Udon con verdure e uova - thick soft spaghetti with carrots in julienne, zucchini, scrambled eggs that tasted saltier which mostly might be due to the fact that eggs are scrambled first with salt and then spaghetti is added , onions , eggs, Enoki mushrooms, etc.

The plates made me feel I was having a sizzler. The udon was served on a wood base with a kinda cast iron plate ( shaped in the form of an animal ) on top that was piping hot to keep the udon hot and fresh.

Overally the experience was a decent one and could be recommended to friends for mainly the price , apart from food.

However I think it's a bit under-staffed and there's a kind of an unknown communication gap among...

RACIST OWNER he clearly has anger issue and always yelling. A street food stall would have better dinning experience than this one. FELLA, never ever go to this restaurant please. And also have service scam. They charge 2 euro each for a person even if u drink a cup of water there. Charging for what? swearing at customer for not speaking fluent italian?(note- I learned italian 9 months so I can speak to a certian extent.) He is a chinese guy and it is amazing that the minority chinese racist to another asian. Even the waiteress italian lady was n't mean to me. In fact, she was really nice. Avendo provato una sola volta un paio di pietanze del locale tramite la consegna a casa e avendole trovate abbastanza buone, ieri mi sono decisa a recarmi in loco. Non lo avessi mai fatto, credo di non aver mai avuto esperienza peggiore all’interno di un ristorante. Veniamo fatti accomodare su un tavolo a fianco ad uno ancora sporco (verrà sgomberato poco dopo ma mai pulito) con fantastica vista sul bagno (foto in allegato). In sottofondo, le urla del proprietario contro i due poveri camerieri che se le sono sentite per almeno tutta la nostra permanenza nel ristorante - ma credo anche prima e oltre. Se si aggiungono queste alla musica e alla tv, l’ambiente si può capire fosse tutt’altro che rilassante. Una volta ordinate quattro pietanze, una di queste ci viene servita a distanza di forse 40 secondi. Al mio commento perplesso il titolare mi dice che o mangiavo quegli involtini o rimanevo senza (facendomi poi pagare il prezzo aggiuntivo perché a sua detta quelli piccoli non c’erano, ma dovevo accettare quelli grandi). Gli involtini sono arrivati ancora prima delle cose da bere, per far capire la velocità. Proseguono poi il sushi, odore sgradevole e forma incommentabile (anche qui, allego foto), e il riso e il pollo alle mandorle, che invece erano discretamente buoni. Il problema maggiore arriva al momento del conto, quando non solo veniamo verbalmente aggrediti in maniera molto pesante perché facciamo presente cosa sia andato storto (urla ai dipendenti per tutta la cena e quant’altro), ma devo richiedere addirittura io lo scontrino fiscale. Il tutto finisce con le minacce del titolare accompagnate da pugni sul bancone, 30€ in meno sul conto per una cena al limite della decenza e un bel mal di pancia durato quasi una giornata....
