We arrived at 'Birreria del corso' based on a positive internet review that a family member had noticed. Instead of giving us the menu, the waiter started proposing us seafood based antipasto (composed essentially by razor shells and mussels, so no expensive stuff, just for clarity), pasta with seafood (in the same line - no expensive stuff, except maybe the langoustine), and potentially fry fish if those first dishes weren't enough. In a 'birreria' one normally wouldn't pay exorbitant amounts, and we trusted him - big error. We started with the 2 first dishes which were largely enough for everybody. We thought that we would stop the meal at that point, but we realized that the waiter had also ordered for us the third dish, (but for 4 persons only). At this point nobody ate the fry fish. We ended up paying 40€ per person (we were 6) which was quite expensive for the place, and also for the quality (this included also a bottle of table white wine and 3 bottles of water). Paying 40€ in Pescara, is quite expensive, but in this review I don't want to focus essentially on this aspect. After all, for that part, it's also partly our fault: we should have inquired about the prices before ordering our meal (but on the other hand, being able to trust the waiter should be part of the good experience you have in a restaurant and you don't go in a birreria/pizzeria to spend this sum). I don't mind paying 40€ if the food is of quality, but in this case, quality-wise, I have a serious issue. After the antipasto which was good, almost all the table was eating 'chitarrina' (fine spaghetti with a square section), but definitely no one was having tagliatelle. While eating her 'chitarrina', my daughter opened a razor seashell served with the dish, and she was surprised to find there a bit of tagliatella. How was this possible, as the restaurant was not very busy and nobody else were having tagliatelles? Even if that was the case, it would still have raised serious doubts about quality. I guess that if she could speak the tagliatella could probably tell us which dishes she had been haunting, without being eaten. I draw my conclusions on this matter, which will prevent me to set foot again in that restaurant, and prompts me to put one star. If I could, I would give a zero or even a...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of dining at Birreria Del Corso in Pescara, Italy, and let me tell you, it was an absolute disaster of an experience. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy.
First of all, let's talk about the prices. A glass of Coca-Cola, a beverage that is readily available at any grocery store for a fraction of the price, will set you back a mind-boggling 10 euros here. I mean, seriously? It's not like they're serving some exotic, rare soda that justifies this highway robbery. It's a basic cola, and the price is nothing short of extortionate. I can't believe they have the audacity to charge that much for a soft drink.
Now, let's move on to the food, or should I say, the lack thereof. The menu at Birreria Del Corso boasts a variety of dishes, but unfortunately, taste is nowhere to be found. I ordered a pasta dish, and it was so bland and tasteless that it made me question if the chef even knows what seasoning is. I've had better microwaveable pasta at home. It's almost impressive how they managed to make something as simple as pasta taste so utterly unappetizing.
The service was equally dreadful. The waitstaff seemed disinterested and inattentive, as if they couldn't care less about our dining experience. We had to flag them down repeatedly just to get a refill on our overpriced sodas.
In summary, Birreria Del Corso in Pescara is a restaurant to avoid at all costs. The exorbitant prices, tasteless food, and apathetic service make it a true culinary nightmare. Save your money and your taste buds by dining elsewhere. You'll...
Read moreTo be honest, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had in my life. Disappointing and too expensive for the quality of the food. We arrived there a little bit in a rush looking for a place (kids were very hungry). Unfortunately, we didn't see the reviews beforehand. Once we were seated, my wife ordered a cola and I noticed that the cola came already poured in the glass (i always see the waiter opening the bottle in front of you, and my wife told me that it tasted bad, without bubbles). Then, the water suggested some bruschettas. They were really tasty (but unfortunately we didn't ask how many and how much it cost, in the end those little "suggestions" inflated our bill. We ordered our main courses, i had fried seafood and my wife fried meat. Both plates were awful, the fried seafood was like re-fried and not fresh, i only ate the squid, the prawns were disgusting. The fried meat was also disgusting, floating on olive oil. Not what we expected. My wife went to the toilet and she told me that it was very dirty. And in the end, we paid almost 80e for this dinner. The most expensive we had in Pescara, and we went out every day. I don't mind paying 80e for our dinner, only if it is worth it. Definitely not here. I've seen other good reviews of this place, but all the bad ones are in line with what we experienced. I don't recommend it at all. Not even if I...
