Mario's Restaurant — Restaurant in Pompei

I got to know this place via other reviews and it was a coincidence that it was round the corner from our b&b. It is a small restaurant nothing too fancy but very welcoming and clean. It is a family run place and the owners are very helpful. They do fritti, pizzas, panuzzi etc... We tried the fritti as a starter and opted for fritti the algae, arancini, crocche and polpette di melanzane. They were all delicious but our favorite were the crocche. Deep-fried balls filled with mozzarella and potatoes. They have a good variety of pizzas to choose from. We had Bufalina and Fantasy with porchetta and broccoli. It was an interesting combination. Family owned, warm-hearted, and real Italian food. We came here on two nights during our three-day trip to Pompeii. The first night we ordered pizza for take-out (margherita and capricciosa), which really lived up to our expectations of really good Italian pizza. The second night we were spoiled by the owner who served us such wonderful arancini gialli e rosse, fried pasta (a local specialty!), crocche, sth with eggplant, and a wonderful Neapolitan-style sandwich with meatballs. A very cozy little restaurant! We visited Mario’s Restaurant after a trip to Pompeii. Hungry, as well as thirsty we stumbled upon this hidden gem. We ordered a Margarita and a Bufalina Pizza, both of which were delicious. The waitress who catered to us even packed the remaining half of our Pizza for us to take home. Although the communication in English was a little wobbly from time to time, we understood each other and this only added to the charm of the restaurant.
