We recently stayed at hotel villa Maria and I simply wished we had not booked this place for our stay for the following reasons:
We originally had asked for a comfortable room as we have a 1 year old baby prior to our stay. The hotel was booked for 5 nights so they asked us to stay at their sister hotel for 2 nights and move to villa Maria for 3 nights. Few days before our arrival again we asked the staff to ensure us a comfortable room. At our arrival we are surprised with a room in the dependance building outside the hotel with many many stairs and narrow corridors with no access to a lift which made it absolutely impossible to reach with a baby and a stroller. I was surprised why would they select the last and the most uncomfortable room when they knew we have a small baby. I would have appreciated that they would have told us originally to just stay at their sister hotel giordano from the beginning so we wouldn't have to move from one hotel to another especially when they can't offer us a comfortable room. After we refused to stay in the dependance room, Carmen gave us another room that was very small and we were told that this is the last room and we have no choice. The small room was also reached by narrow corridors and stairs but at least was in the hotel building. Later I checked on booking.com and saw that they had a suite available for 2 nights but of course they didn't feel like upgrading us to a bigger and more comfortable room. I travel a lot for work and if you stay at legit hotel, the staff are well trained and they know how to take care of the client and they would upgrade you to a comfortable room to make sure you are happy and build a customer relationship. This hotel seemed like they really don't care for the comfort of their client. They did kindly offer to take the stoller to our room but there was not space to keep the stoller in the room. I had to leave one suitcase closed in the closet so we could walk around the bed.
We were also surprised with the breakfast, I was expecting a high quality breakfast since they have a great restaurant but nothing special. Nothing was home made and everything was ordinary and the staff at breakfast were definitely not happy to be there.
Their restaurant is the best restaurant in Ravello and I give all the credit to the chef and the kitchen as they make the most amazing dishes, that was the reason we originally booked Villa Maria. We thought the hotel will be a good as the restaurant but i will only recommend the restaurant for dining and not the hotel.
We come every year to Ravello, but we are definitely not coming back to this hotel, we simply didn't feel welcome and I don't recommend this hotel to families. However, I suggest their sister hotel Giordano as they made sure our rooms to be ready prior our departure.
I only recommend the restaurant but in this time of the year was not pleasant to eat on the terrace as you get bombarded by bees for breakfast, lunch and...
Read moreWe came to Villa Maria after walking all day around Ravello, we were hungry and in need of a nice experience. When we entered the garden area the staff of approx 5 looked us up and down and although there was only 1 table with people eating I thought by their look they were going to say all tables were reserved, as if we weren't good enough to be there. Their look said it all.1 member of staff took us towards 1 table in a far corner, then after discussion with another staff member took us to a central table, the cloth was dirty with debris from trees above , no attempt was made to clean or clear, staff seemed not bothered and too important to make you feel welcome, which continues through the whole meal. I ordered the ravioli which tasted like rubber and was such a small portion wouldn't even feed a child. Bread rolls came in a paper bag and for such a upmarket place I was not impressed. All dishes for the 3 of us were luke warm and tasteless. Not one member of staff said goodbye to us on leaving and at the gate we overheard another family complaining it had been the worst food and experience they had ever had !!! Expensive and not worth it and also mentioned staff rudeness. We stayed in Amalfi for 14 days visiting several restaurants and yours was the worst we have had especially for staff being to busy thinking their important to make the customer feel welcome. We won't be recommending or come...
Read moreWe stayed at Hotel Villa Maria in Ravello for a week while attending a family wedding, and it was an excellent experience. The accommodations were top-notch. The rooms are beautifully designed and very well-maintained, making it a comfortable base for our trip. The service from all the staff, including the on-site restaurant (also called Villa Maria), was outstanding. They really made us feel welcome. The whole property has a quiet, elegant charm that made our stay unforgettable.
The hotel is situated in a lovely neighborhood, making it convenient to visit local attractions. It’s tucked away in a narrow alley, meaning you can only access it by walking or using special buggies for your luggage. This setup keeps the area tranquil and private, while still being near major sights in the city. Every morning, we enjoyed visiting Piazza Centrale and Piazza Duomo after breakfast at the hotel restaurant, where there are many restaurants and shops to explore. Additionally, you can see the Museo del Corallo if you're interested.
Many of the hotel rooms come with a balcony or terrace that offers stunning sea views, perfect for beginning your day! As a guest, you also have access to the swimming pool at the nearby Hotel Giordano. If you're searching for a charming, well-run place for a long stay or a special occasion like a wedding, this hotel is an...
